Which scoop ?

OK, here you go, the first 4 pics are of 2 of my 70 Darts - one with the scoops, and one with a flat hood. You can see how the holes in the frame in 4 places per scoop, and a half hole in the edge of the frame per side define the location of 5 studs per scoop (10 in all). They are easier to see on the flat hood. When you compare it with the red 72 hood you can see all the holes in the 70 hood are still there and then in addition there are 6 additional holes which in my understanding are for the 72 dual snorkel scoop. On the two scoop set up, you can drill the holes closest to the windshield from the inside out and work your way toward the front edge of the hood, checking your work by using the studs in the scoop in the back holes. Don't let the drill heat the hood skin or it might warp or in your case fry the paint on the skin. It might be helpful if you ask for someone here to take a picture of the inside of their 72 hood with the scoop installed so you have a feel for where the studs with no corresponding frame holes fall.

Good Luck! Let me know how it goes.

72 hood - see holes for dual snorkel scoop - bottom rib, 3 holes - center of the top (front) middle triangle, 1 hole flush with skin - ribs running from center bottom to top outside edge, each has 1 hole, so that's 6 holes. It would be easier if you print out the 70 flat hood pic and the 72 hood pic so you can put them side by side. Just by eye, I think the 72 scoop holes are slightly smaller than the 70 two scoop holes. You will need to make a disc the size of the frame holes to center the holes for the studs in the skin of the hood. start with small holes - you can make them bigger but can't make them smaller!
