Dodge to NASCAR?

It's a part of our new world order, weak bodies and minds are becoming the majority where men are not men and neither are the women, their all a bunch of little girls that don't know how to be what they were intended.

well this year i did watch a couple just to keep up with kyle larson. but nascar sucks in so many ways, like:
drop the green flag run scratch cheat steal wreck rub push ride what ever it takes till the checker flag drops. wrecker or checker. only way to do it. also in 2022 they will be serving tea during the stages, and pottie breaks, and i heard offering covid booster to the booster to the boaster. they will also pay carbon penalties if they burn their tires ,also they can't get out on the track if they wreck to throw something at the guy that did it, but they can stop the race and walk and kneel for any political cause. do your self a favor and visit the local tracks, they still have "real" race'n" :)

In a nutshell their old fan base in dwindling. Nascar is a business that needs to operate in the black so they have that to contend with. And in business the only sure fired way to repeat losses is to continue doing things as you have been. I don't know much about the sport as many others do but for a business model they are trying to lure in a new fan base.

Whether I agree with it or not doesn't matter so long as they can keep it going. If Dodge wants back in it good for them. But the fan base is changing and their needs out of racing will be different from a fan of 30 years ago. I personally think they are going to make a whole bunch of changes by the end of 2023...

Yes, and from what I have seen over the years ADD is increasing so they must cater to those with a lack of attention retention? I wonder how it will turn out when NASCAR is forced to run hybrids or all electrics? Lets see how they modify electric motors for racing, guys will be trying to do like the old crowd and find a way to hide a few extra batteries in the frames or where ever.

Life keeps moving down the tape measure unfortunately. In 10 years Nascar will be nothing like what it is today. It's been like that all along unfortunately.

In regards to EV's, IMO they will become a pivotal point in the restructuring of advancements in regards to longevity of Batteries. Nascar and any major form of racing have some of the most incredible minds on the planet....

My two cents, I used to be an avid Nascar fan but when Dodge left the scene, my interest wasn't far behind. It really bothered me when Dodge wins the championship with a 2 car team in 2012 and doesn't return in 2013. Now we have toyota running in the Great American Race, will the Russian Lada be next to get on board. Dodge through the later years had trouble finding Race teams to run Dodge cars.
I guess Dodge lack of enough funding for the teams was a major cause of that.

Haven't heard one person of any age say, boy I can't wait for electric cars to race nascar.

I haven't either. In fact, just the opposite. But their current business model is not sustainable and it's a business first and foremost. If it wasn't for people watching it on TV I suspect they would have even bigger problems. I don't know anyone who watches it anymore lol...

Absolutely not. Unless it is a sticker like the ones on the identical bodies of the identical frames and identical engines.

Who was it that brought up the IROC series? I had forgotten that but other than the generic colors and plain cars NASCAR has sorta headed that way.

There isn't any more "Race on Sunday, Sell on Monday"
The IROC series when they used the Daytona and then the Avenger bodies wasn’t so bad. We were at this race, and it was a great one. Better than I recall most of the ones through the years up until they went to Dodges. They looked like the cars and the roar of all those engines was a winning combination

Me either, If so I think I'd do a Rosie Greir and take up knitting. I knew some people that bragged about their RC cars and stuff, like rewinding the motors and whatever.

Used to be....

I've said for years the only way to make NASCAR any less boring is to give each team a fixed amount of fuel and then lower the amount each season until it gets exciting again.

Then I watched electric car racing and realized that there is a way to make NASCAR more boring.

Dodge won't go back to NASCAR. There's no money in it for a manufacturer that already spent their advertising budget on putting five vehicles in a row and having them drive by a camera.

Besides, retired people and financially challenged people don't buy new cars, and that's the NASCAR primary fanbase now

It’s too bad NASCAR bowed down to the political gods. I used to watch it religiously, but don’t even bother anymore. Much more to life than that.
NASCAR has their heads where the sun don't shine. But then F1 has their arrogant heads where the sun don't shine. Speed Channel went for crap after NASCAR bought it.
There should be a "Legion" for old car guys to sit around and remember the good stuff.
I can get a vision of the twinkies getting excited about the Daytona EV 500. Run a 100 miles hen take a break for half an hour or so to charge the batteries. Fans better drive Sprinter vans done up like Boogie vans so they can charge "their battery" during the break. Can you image TV viewers getting huped up as the announcers discuss amphour rates and battery draw. I think I need to go for a ****.

Brings to my mind that song that says It's the End of the World as we know and I feel fine.
But I've seem it coming since I was still living in Calif. back in the 80's. When I first got the I should have seen it then but things were still trying to hang on as long as they could back then, we had like 3 speed shops in Bakersfield for a while and they slowly closed down. Most of the people that had nice cars slowly parked them in the gargages and left them because te COP's would leave us alone on the weekends because we were in compliance with emissions regulations or something. After leaving Calif. things really went down hill for me since I was married and there were kids in the house that needed things more than the car did along with a bad job market and low wages being paid for skilled jobs.

The only way i would watch again if they let dodge use the hemi.
Pretty much full body F1 or Indy Car. So many rules, intake manifold specified. Crip sakes, if ya need to pass gas you pretty much have to ask NASCAR permission.
I liked racing when it was more run what ya brung. The Mopar crews had the winged wonders, Ford brought out the Talledega. Ford introduced the SOHC, but everyone else cried foul so that go banned. I believe the Ford and Chevy guys tried getting the Hemi banned also.
The early Can Am Championship was great with all the inovation that went on.
The F1 arrogant snots got rules piled hi as a flag pole. Now whoever starts on the pole is pretty much guarranteed to kiss the beauty queen. The F1 snots think the answer to bringing fans back is more power. Arrogant pricks don't get it. Put the excitement back in with passing, drifting around corners. Simplest way to bring costs and speeds down is to use a spec tire with a DOT wear rating of say 200. Investing $millions only goes so far when you are traction limited. These tires wear with fine dust instead of marbles. This opens up passing in corners. Fans would come back.

Pretty much how it is with any sanctioned racing. Which is why so many are turning to street racing. With all the rules and restrictions, limiting everyone to running pretty much the same parts aside from manufacturer of the body and the basic blocks, etc.. It comes down to driver ability and how good the shop guys do their jobs, beyond that it's, how long the parts last before they fail which is never guaranteed. Of course you can't street race in circles. And most people are just plain bored with watching a bunch of cars go around and around, the spectacle is obviously the crashes and seeing which driver and team manages to last to the end, only difference in this and Demo Derby is organization. The cost of a ticket to go see a race and sit in the weather is an issue. The time it takes for a race to complete is another, and now with Covid and the economy in the outhouse, who can really get excited about a race, heck MLB can't even fill a stadium right now even if teams can play. There's no money to be made airing a game on TV aside from advertisements and who wants to watch those.

Removing individuality and ingenuity with all their rules has killed nascar.

Club racing is where you still find good competition affordably. I don't condon street racing. 40 years ago the traffic volumes were much lower. Drivers and pedestrians had some functioning brain cells then. With the high/hi traffic volumes and self absorbed people is an invitation to tragedy.
Bracket racing, smaller dirt and paved oval track and club road racing. No entanglements with the public.
As I stated, spec tire is the solution to costs and spectator enthusiasm.

I don't condon street racing in the sense you are referring too either however that isn't going to stop idiots. When I 'was' street racing in Bakersfield we usually took it out of the city to a way out paved country road which are very plentiful out there. Also in the small town of my birth place we did the same thing. There it was a small group of kids usually sometimes others from nearby were there but we kept our activities limited to short times so the cops didn't have time to get there usually. In Calif. this was often not the case as the CHP knew where to go and when, so we alternated from one place to another, that didn't work either due to Motorola. here were times the Sheriff got in on it and sometimes they would use unmarked cars and troops not in uniforms that would blend in with the crowds, large vans would show up and load racers up for transportation to jail and many cars would be impounded. Since Famosa Dragway was never far away, there was always something happening during the summer season until things got out of hand in the later 80's by that I mean cars were being garaged on account of legislation and emissions checking and registration requirements, no smog cert. no licenses. As far as sanctioned racing like NASCAR, business is what it is, for business men and the owners wants or find another job. Just like football etc... Now factories are not in HP races like they used to be and Chrysler Corp. got out of it because of financial and political issues. Makers are more concerned about economy and luxury these days which is fine, but fewer people are even capable of changing their oil and then there is the EPA part of what to do with it. Some will keep it for shop heating. There are just too many blockades to learning our cars anymore.

As for new Hemi's, yes they are technically advanced but not materially. Any new hemi that was suitable for endurance racing would be so far away from what the factory produces it would be out range for public projects. They just aren't up to it as the old hemis or any other production were. They used to have a mind set to build it to last but now it is to build it to sell and when it breaks get rid of it and buy a replacement, recycle the old broken stuff to make new junk. It's a fact that aluminum can't handle heat like iron can and engines get hot sometimes and then they're done. Valve seats fall out and gaskets sink into the heads, coolant leaks are a problem and plastic has no place in so many applications. With so much plastic being used in new production parts, it's no wonder the sport is losing ground. Engines just are built to last and operate in conditions of racing.

Modern vehicles are complex. It is difficult to tinker like we used to. At least the more modern EFI can be tuned. Mass air sensors enabled that. The early speed density posed problems until.the aftermarket figured out how to tune them.

No need to tell me how complex they are, I started working with electronic engines controls when they first came out in the late 70's and stayed with it till just the year before last when I stopped. I am currently working on a MegaSquirt system using speed density for my latest project. By the time I hopefully get it working, that is if I can succeed in communicating with the ECM, I will have 8 channel EGT monitoring, 2 channel knock sense, auto learn, 2 stage fuel and COP spark control, dual map sensors, one for altitude/baro compensation the other for absolute man. press., 2 stage nitrous, charge control, wifi with data logging, CANbus trans control, CANbus also working with other peripherals, CANbus digital dash, launch control, 2 channel wide band O2 sensor, individual cylinder tuning, Onboard diagnostics and so much more. The system I'm building is a DIY assembly kit. The controller is nearly finished, I'm having issue setting up the communications to it right now but once I get that ironed out that's when the fun begins. As soon as I can get the full feature software registration which includes a built in dyno, let the games begin. It's all slated for a 540 inch BBC right now, I know what some will say but I own a large motorhome it might wind up in too at some time. The instruction manuals of which there are more than 4 is almost 400 pages long. There are 8 circuit boards so far just for the main ECU, 2 of which are for testing inputs and outputs.

My cousins and I went to a lot of races in the 90's, then nascar went to the sewer. Drivers with no character, stupid rules that removed all ingenuity and cookie cutter cars that all look alike. I told my cousins that nascar would like to own all the cars, the driver and crew would show up mid week and draw for a car, put their sponsors wrap on and race for the weekend. Rinse and repeat.

I have all the respect in the world for what Richard did but he should've ridden off into the sunset years ago. He turned himself and his name into an advertisement *****. For all intents and purposes Petty Motorsports future died with Adam.

Just my $.02.
Well, the thing is, Richard was receiving 700k a year, JUST for the use of his name, Richard petty motorsports hasnt had anything do with him other than that.
