I'd love to put in a small desoto hemi or even a 273 but it's not cost effective. I can't find a 273 and 4 speed for a resonable price. Better to use what I have and can work with.

You can't find a small block Mopar and a 904 automatic to just bolt in? They are not a SBC, you don't have to replace everything to make them run and be reliable. There are millions of Chevrolets out there in need of a motor, and millions of Mopar motors in need of a car. Not sure what is a reasonable price when you are talking about clugeing a Vette and a Cuda together. It does not add up.
