Yeah, if I was going to the trouble of pulling the rear end to get the perches moved, I would probably bite the bullet and put an 8 3/4 in it to gain the total length back to get it off the springs. As someone else suggested, you might try spacers. I hate those things because it just seems too Mickey Mouse-ish! I suppose if the spacers were hub centric, they may be more trustworthy.
I’m not getting a new rear or using spacers. I put time and money into conveying my 8-1/4 to a suregrip with 3:55 gears. I’d buy the Weld wheels with a 2-1/2” backspace before I did anything. They are about $350 each x 4 so like $1500 to switch to a name brand wheel from a knockoff. I like how the car looks with the 245s except from straight on from the back. Those 245s look a little skimpy….
