Just found this on u-tube that might be helpful for those of you that us cal trac's and need more adj.:usflag:

Has anyone tried the
"ASSASSIN" TRACTION BARS
made by Smith Racecraft, I bought a set for my 1970 Dart 408 they are very similar to the Caltrac's but are way more tuneable, Just wondering if anyone has any advice for me ..... Thanks !
PR I have heard some guys talking about them during bench racing sessions but as of yet none have shown up at track? No idea other than the gossip that they took a good idea and made it better.

I own a set, I'm working on getting my minitubs and springs relocated. I'm highly doubtful I'll have anything to tell before you get yours on but yes, they're a quality part.

Do you know anyone that has used them.I have done a search but cannot find any cars with those brackets on. Just wondering how well they work.

Okay so i have put them on M A K (Gap Brackets) but I have not yet tried them out. I have put the photos,in so you can at least see what it looks like on an A body With the MAK vs Caltrac bracket . Also you can see there is a difference in the bar angle for more bite. .This is it for now for those who want to have a look. I do not know anyone who has these on their car so I am my own experiment.

Interesting. So these assassin bars, do they require mods?Do they need a special spring? What's the cost vs a Caltrack?

They're the same price as the caltrac for inboards.
They will work with any leaf springs.
I don't believe any mods are required.
I'm getting closer to installing mine, I have some mods to do but nothing pertaining to the assassin bars

Not a tuning question but an install question, what size diameter bold do you guys use in the front of the split monoleaf ?
Edit for anyone in the future it's 5/8

Maybe a dumb question but are the part numbers the same for the left & right split monoleaf ?

Question to anyone who has installed the "ASSASSIN" Traction Bars. I have SS springs on my Barracuda and have purchased a set of Assassins . The Instructions state "On Multi-leaf, may have to trim second leaf so the bracket sits flat". The second leaf on mine goes right up to the back edge of the eye so the bracket will still clamp flat against the 2 leafs. Should I still trim the second leaf?

Yes you have to trim that spring back about 5-6" I just trimmed min off with a cut off wheel on a small angle grinder I used my SS springs too but I wanted to lower my car so I took the spring pak apart and now only run the main and the second leafs in my car it works awesome and the car has a nice stance I think Mickey Thompson Drag radials 295/55R15 launch's good and hard ..... I will be taking it to the track in the spring.

Don't try and put the front mount on over 2 springs it does not work as the bolts and u-bolts supplied will be to short and it will also bind the spring up and make it a solid suspension .... I tried what you were thinking and it won't work sir.

i don't know about assassin bars but caltrac say NO to SS and HD springs.

Thanks Steve. Cutting the leafs was not in my original line of thought but it makes sense. Looks like I'll need to cut back the 2nd leaf about 5-6 inches on both sides and (I just realized) also the 3rd leaf on the right side a couple of inches. Not something I'm really familiar with. Any tips? Anything that I should be concerned with? I really don't want to lower the height if I can avoid it.
