can anyone help.
This is a 64 valiant rear. I am guessing that is the gear ratio stamped on the gear?.
323 or 291 ?
I see two numbers.
Thanks in advance.

Crappy photo, it does not show all the numbers.

If there are four more digits after the 291 for a total of 7 numbers it would be the ring gear part number.

Sorry. I'll try and post a better one.:(

That part number (2070588) does not show up in the 64 parts book. Might be newer then 64. Probably a 3.23 gear, as that ratio was available, but no 2.91 (2.93)

Part number 2070558 is in the 69 parts book as 3.23 ratio As shown in the picture. 2070588 was wrong numbers in text.
That why I asked. appreciate the help. :thankyou:there is a 64 stamped on it also before the 7 digits.
No idea what that means.

Yeah it's a 3.23. A quick nasty way to tell is look at the thickness of the ring gear. A 2.94 and numerically lower will have a noticeably thinner ring gear to make room for the whopper john pinion gear.

Thank you.

Go to group 3 rear axle section in the 1970-71 parts catalog. Then see text page 3-11. There you will find 2070558. This number will be found in 1969 thru 1972 parts catalogs in group 3.
