This movie is from 1971. The Challenger is a 1972. Its a convertible ????
They didn't make 1972 convertibles. Its blurry but on shots you can see its a 72

They liked to use convertibles for cinematography- when Chrysler sponsored products for film and TV it was not uncommon to update the previous model to then current specs to use in filming. Notable was the "1973" Barracuda convertible (an updated 1971) on the Mannix TV series.

There were 1972 Challenger conv’s used in various 1972 TV shows and also pop up in movies around that time. Mod Squad, and some other shows.

they were 1971 models modified into 1972’s. They were studio lot vehicles.

It's got 70-71 marker lights and the darker 71 style center caps so I would tend to agree with autoxcuda

The TV show Mod Squad used THAT Challenger It was a 1971 that was re-done as a '72 to reflect the current model in the show, even though convertibles weren't an option. Note the side marker lights. Pro Stock racers did the same thing to keep up with the current year models either for the sake of economics or while waiting for a new car to be finished. The '70 & '71 Motown Missile Challenger are the same car. Lots of A-bodies were updated that way as well.

Just weird to see it when I noticed the 72 tail lights. I personally never saw a 72 convertible mopar in person. No models ever!

There a “1972” barracuda convertible used on the Brady Bunch tv show. Same for Mannix tv show.

Racer do that for class reasons too. “Factoring”, correct?

There was a pink Challenger class racer that changed from a 1970 T/A 340-6bbl to a 1971 Challenger 340-TQ-4bbl with optional T/A hood

removed the T/A stripes, changed the intake and carbs, changed front grille, and change rear taillights

These two cars are the same. Chrysler sent them a “kit” of parts to swap from 68 GTX to 69 A12 Road Runner.

Correct! I heard that the pink Challenger ran better as a '71 with a Thermoquad than it did with the 6-pack!
When I raced IHRA Stock, I converted my original '74 Duster to a '75 Dart Sport not only for the styling preference & hood scoop, but it was the heaviest A-body putting it one class slower than other fast cars. Also allowed me to put more weight in back!

I think this was the Challenger:
