WE ARE A GENERATION THAT WILL NEVER COME BACK.

But when your second amendment was written it was ball and musket not high powered assault rifles. My point is that those types of guns aren't for hunting. Blasting a large round of projectiles at an animal isn't sportsmanship and where are those other bullets going at a high rate of velocity?
Like I said before, if you're that bad a shot buy the meat at the store.
I’ve in the 43 years of deer hunting have only shot at a deer twice, once in my life, muzzle loader miss fire. All other deer went no more than 200 yds. Most of them never knew it was coming, some “made me” but to late they were in the crosshairs
I actually find the 55.6 round underpowered for hunting, I prefer the 7.62x39

Did you know most states have a minimum caliber requirements for hunting?

You want to kill and drop the animals
Not wound it and make it suffer

That’s why I use a 7 mm rem mag. Hornaday 175 gr interlock bullet loaded to 2900ft Long flat shooting with balls. Yup it works very well.

Frankly speaking, people from 'your generation' created the whole mess we're in today. What generation are all these idiot politicians from? The generation I pine for is the one who fought WWII.

Don't go feeling special and above the fray. I know penty in your generation that are very confused politically and not sound financially. Every generation has their ef-ups. The one from the 60's and 70's had more than any other previously. They went on to have kids and ef'ed that up too. The cycle has shown decline since.
While what you say is true I don't think he's feeling better...speaking for myself I believe I had a good time and wouldn't trade places with young people today. Most are clueless and live at home some until 30 or 40...I mean clueless in that I think back to when I was their age and was alot further ahead in development socially, mentally, financially etc. Ill give an example, on Uncle Tony's garage there are three guys that are at least 30, the viewers call them "kids". at 30 I was an ASE master tech working in a dealership and had been doing engine work at least 10 years or more. Point is what have those 3 been doing for the last 10 tears playing video games? These peole are allowed to be slackers untill 30? c mon man...then they get out of college and are entitled to top salary with no experience? screwed up very screwed up. Speaking of idiot politicians AOC and her crew are what 30?

I was 22 when I got my journeyman’s ticket. Got in the union the rest is history. Oldest got his red seal at 24 he’s an industrial mechanic. Youngest manager of lumber yard at 26. Reward and denial works for me

There will always be those that work and want to work for what they have...and here will always be those that want the gov'ment, or mom, or whoever just give them what they want and /or need.
I bet here are examples of such as far back as the Old Testiment in the Bible. Might have started right after the first cave man!
I admit my kids never asked for my help after they were grown and on their own and when they really and truly needed it, not because they thought I would turn them down, but be cause they were raised to be self suffucient and stand on their own. Is it my fault they never asked or was it to my credit they never asked?

You did well, boys doing well also, they had a good example...
Mine choose a different path but they saw their parents both work two jobs for decades. They saw the benefits from learning a skill or getting a good education and applying it to a career
They all attended private school from grammar school through college and my wife and I paid that bill in full
The reason I didn't get back into old cars until not that long ago.....The boys do very well the daughter has a DR. in front of her name and she has taken us on vacations that my wife and I could never dream of and never took a dime from us, all expenses paid, the best hotels resorts meals cruises the works

:realcrazy:
They are not a sporting rifle because the animal has no sporting chance to get away. If you're that bad a shot to need that firepower then buy the meat at the store. It should only take one bullet to bring something down and maybe a second to finish it off.
Sorry but I don't like guns and I don't hunt.

For a guy that doesn’t like guns or hunts you sure do assume a lot. You really think people who hunt with the AR platform (5.56, 6.5, 7.62, 300 BLK) unloads a full 30 rd magazine into an animal? :realcrazy:
Also, I shoot mostly coyote and it’s with a 5.56 AR (I have a 7.62 for large game like boar and deer). You mostly never get more than 1 chance on a coyote or any other animal. A second shot to put it out of its misery if needed. Just because there are x number of rounds doesn’t mean you shoot them all.
Your thinking is the same as someone who wants to ban fast cars. Why would you need a car that can go 100 mph or 12 sec 1/4 miles? If your in that big of a rush you should just leave your house earlier. They might as well not even make those cars, then nobody would die in car crashes.
I am curious if you even know the difference between 5.56 and a 22 caliber? Do you guys have invasive pigs up there in Canada? How would you get rid of them, eh?

The one problem I have is nobody fails a class anymore. They just push them through anyway. Problem being if they don't get a grasp on the subject it will just fester and never understand. The second thing is no matter if you win or lose everyone gets a trophy. They're going to have a big surprise when they get a job in the real world.

When my son turned 16, I bought his first car. When I gave it to him, I told him it had a full tank of gas, fresh oil change and tune up, 6 months of insurance, 1 year of license, new tires, and a pack of condoms in the glove box. Fully equipped, and ready to go. I also told him, when any of those needed refilled/replaced/renewed, that was on him. He needed to get a job. He's now 44, has given me three wonderful grandchildren, and has never asked me for a dime.

Now that is payback. Kudos to your daughter.

Yeah I know what a 22 looks like. We have three 303 live shells that my Father-in-Law kept from WW2. I'm not a fan of guns so why would I know anything about them. My son is a hunter and has several guns and a high powered pellet gun that you need a permit for. He also has two pistols, a 9 mm and a 22. He also has a cross bow. That's fine and good for him just not my cup of tea.
Not everyone has the same interests, it would be a pretty sad world if they did but not liking guns doesn't make me better or worse than everyone.
What if I liked sewing (I don't) but does that make me less of a man because I do? Absolutely not.
BTW yes we do have the invasive bore right here in town and we also have a large population of Coyotes which we can't shoot either of them. The authorities have to come in and determine if they are a threat. There were 6 pigs roaming the backroads and all were taken care of by the authorities.
We even had a moose walk down my street a number of years ago. Not bad for a city of 150,000. We even had a group of deer in the downtown and they broke through store windows and did a lot of damage.

You have every right to your opinion. I have several friends that feel the same as you. Don't like guns. Don't hunt. That does not remove my right to do both. The second amendment has absolutely nothing to do with hunting. when that amendment was written, the firearms were ball and musket. That's what the people had, and that's what the government had. The second amendment was written for this reason. A quotation by Thomas Jefferson.

Quotation: "The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."

Those .303 war shells will be FMJ illegal for hunting. No expansion, Punches a 30 cal hole right through, designed to maime the enemy and tax they’re resources. Any id. On the primer end? I might be able to give some history.

Not only cap and ball. The machine gun was being made in 1580 and 1590 in Nuremberg Germany and further developed in the 1600 1700s and 1800s in other countries.
The cap and ball agruement is not the whole story.

Other than hunting the only reason for a gun is another gun. I have many all designed specifically for hunting. Have no need for an assault rifle or a pistol. Interesting yes read about them sure, but can’t see the cash outlay for something that does a half assed job at anything other than hurting people

Winchester repeating arms. Produced in the USA and sold to Canada and England. 1941 design.
Would it still be stable or should they be deactivated. They're kept in a small bottle with cotton batten around them. We have 3 of them.

It is also berdan primed, note the stake marks around the primer. Producers of the 303 Brit and the 303 Ross (made in Canada) made them at the sloppiest tolerance with out losing safety. This was done so they would WORK in the mud and slop. Most of those rifles were wore out when they were new. Primers were pinned to help keep them from backing out in a sloppy chamber. Other rifles like the ar 15 they are pinned because of heavy vibration under auto fire

What if I liked sewing (I don't) but does that make me less of a man because I do?

I sew. Millions of men sew. Thousands upon thousands in the US alone have a career that requires sewing machine use. It’s a skill. It makes you more of a man because a man is supposed to have many skills. Being dangerous (not evil) is a skill that is very important for the protection of his family. You have to be willing to take it all the way to killing a threat if your family’s life is in peril. If you’re not willing to do that? I will not respect you as a man. Lots of cowards have sat in front of their attackers and watched their wife get raped and children murdered. Calling the police is not an option. When seconds matter, they are only minutes away.

I could care less if you like guns or not. What I care about is people LIKE you who would be quick to tell someone their guns aren’t needed and we shouldn’t have xxxx gun around. If you know what a .22 is try to imagine how big a .223 is. That is the same as 5.56mm, which is what a majority of AR-15’s are chambered in.

Further discussion with you is over.

You’ve never shot an AR10 chambered in 6.5 creedmore or 7.62? Full floating 22” heavy barrel? Adjustable cheek weld stock? Two stage trigger with a 2.5 lb pull? Come to visit and you will see that it will drop ANY living thing smaller than a rhino from 9,000 meters. No half-assed about it.
It’s like a Hemi cuda of guns. Half-assed commuter car. Half-asses on comfort. A bolt gun, and I have several, is like a Prius. Efficient but slow. Only slightly better at getting you from point A to point B. Not nearly as sexy.
Hell, what am I saying. Let’s outlaw everything that can hurt people.

While this is all true, the point of my statement was that, regardless of what type of weapons were available at the time, it has absolutely nothing to do with the 2A.

what about this...when the second amendment was written, all guns were military style

Certain situations I’d own AR
Protecting livestock, living near border crossing in the southern part of the country
Remote rural areas
Or if your just a firearm enthusiast
If you live close by other houses in a suburban area a firearm such as any of these semi auto AR type weapons are a poor and irresponsible choice of home protection

I check every single one of those boxes. I live in a US Forest Service designated wilderness area. I have zero neighbors. Check. Protect animals from depredation. Check. 10 miles from the US/ Mex border in a highly (immigrant) travelled valley. Check. Sherif and Border Patrol takes more than 30 minutes to respond. Check.
If you want guns taken away from apartment dwellers then they get taken away from me too.
Also, I want equal to, or greater if can be had, firepower than any entity coming at me. Everyone seems so concerned about taking guns away from law abiding citizens but no plan to take them away from the bad guys.
