truck driver 110 year sentence reduced to 10

Yeah, I really hadn't learned anything about this case until this thread came up. I had just heard a few things pertaining to the case in the media. They sure did make it out to be an issue with truck maintenance.
I didn't know his speed. I knew it was down hill. They sure as hell didn't say he drove past runaway ramps.
My thoughts have changed on this issue. I just hadn't invested enough time in reading about it. I quit paying attention to things in the news that didn't affect me personally around Feb. 2020.
We had a dump truck (18 yd) come down the ramp towards the than toll plaza loaded on the Verrazano Narrows bridge and rear end another truck stoped paying tolls
The driver claimed the brakes were bad but the truth came out that he was driving to fast and he couldn't stop......The maintenance records for that truck were pulled immediately and the truck had all new brakes and drums recently
It comes down to knowing how to drive, that driver in CO was going to fast down that mountain, I dont know if he was using the Jake or if he even had one...Was he revving so high he couldn't get into a lower gear, but standing on the brakes wasnt going to stop him
It happened years later in a company I worked for, multiple tractor trailer pile up coming down a steep embankment, driver told me he was standing on the brake pedal, he went right under another trailer
I hear you with paying attention to the news, I felt the exact same way in Feb of 2016
