Ideas on a good replacement for a Mopar chrome ECU box? Can't find a replacement and this one is beginning to hiccup occasionally. Small block. Last incident happened while engine was warm after gassing up. Cranked and cranked, then I heard a click through the firewall and it instantly fired up. New Accell coil and ballast resister. I'm thinking it's the ECU box. Four years old but not a lot of use ... are there any orange boxes any good? Street use only.

Is the case to the ECU grounded really well? I think the HiRev 7500 from Jegs, FBO, Rev-n-ator, or the Standard Motor LX101 are pretty common replacements or moving to a HEI module, MSD etc. will be recommended by others as well. Mancini sells replacements as well. Finding good boxes with longevity is difficult these day. I keep a HiRev in the car as a back up to my Chrome box.

I have the Hi Rev 7500 from Jegs. So far, it's worked flawlessly.

I would be finding out what the 'click' was. Could the coil have an internal overheat thermostat & that was the click? ECUs do not click. The Accel coil may need a different value [ ohms ] ballast resistor than the factory res, so I would check this out BEFORE spending $$$ on an ECU.
