Does anyone have a photo of a 74 scamp or swinger with the V1P vinyl top code and the original top intact? The information I've found isn't clear on this code.

V1P was for the Mod Top cars in 1969, there is no "P" code in 1974. Take another look, there is F which is green, or B which is blue.

Well my 74 scamp has it.

Could it be for the half top? My code book does not list a V1P in 1974, but they had the half top I believe they call it the canopy top?

Had a 74 Duster with a parchment color interior and roof. Might be what the P represents

Nope. The V4_ canopy tops were only available on the '29' models, his is a '23' with a V1_ code.

V1P is not in the the information listed at the start of the model year, but some new items were introduced during the model year so they were not shown.

I think it’s some sort of promotional package or new mid year option.

On Barry’s site, there’s an Dodge announcement of the Dart S/E. And says there were different grains of vinyl tops. The Plymouth equivalent of the S/E is a Valiant Brougham.

Maybe one of those tops was available for other cars?

Didn’t the S/E and Brougham have a unique padded top?

My guess is the “P” means premium. Like a Mod Top was a Premium top. Just a guess

Pretty damn interesting

Hopefully someone with a V1P top on a 1974 model can post a photo of their original top at some point?

Or a mid-model year Production Information Bulletin or other factory mention of it is found someday.

Until then, it is always OK to say "I do not know." ;-)

Working on a 1974 Dart Special Edition, I also have the V1P vinyl top code, and a GE7 paint code that can't be identified. Car appears to be a sort of burgundy, with a light colored(white/cream/yellow) pieces of vinyl top left, but not enough to identify. Any info for original color and vinyl top colors would be great!

Yes, GE7 is Burgandy Metallic. Can you find a good swatch of the vinyl top and take a picture of it? Usually under the drip rail molding is a good place to look, but you have to take the molding off...

Drip rail moldings have been removed(I have them in trunk) but this is the best I can see right now, it's like a light cream color, but no clue how faded it is

Looks like OP has a Valiant Brougham and not a Scamp.

Could the P be "parchment"?

It looks to me like the "parchment" colored top on my 73 Swinger. I've seen 74/75 burgundycars with parchment vinyl on them. One warning: it was a real pain to keep that top clean, especially in the grain.

We called the car Root beer for obvious reasons.
