Before I start---please dont beat me up !!!
1969 barracuda fastback
340 stock bore original 10.5comp
original intake /carb/dizzy/hp manifolds/2.02 j heads(verified)/24inch tall tire/3.23 rear\ 2900lbs
likes around 40 degrees total timing from my playing around (sugestions from "318 will run") I have no cylinder pressures

previous owner stated a fresh reseal of the engine with a cam change I have no specs for/and the trans was "worked" have no idea if it was a shift kit or what...

I have a leak coming from the trans front pump(checked the torque converter drain plug) so the trans is getting pulled....

the 340 727 torque converter stall speed is supposed to be 2250/2450 well I know that the current cam is bigger than what the torque converter likes (stalls when placed in drive)

does any one have a part # for the factory torque converter so I can try to validate it ???

Im also looking at the Hughes 24-25 converter

not a track car/fun street car

I don't post much anymore because as there will always be someone to start $hit. But if you know any place close to get a convertor built go with 3000 to 3500 stall. Stall has a lot of different variables. Torque converters have come so far in the last few years it's unreal. The factory "2400" stall will be to early for anything if the engine has been worked on. Don't be afraid of a high stall converter they are nothing like the old days. But DO add a cooler to the transmission. Any converter / transmission builder will request a lot of information... be honest.
