I had previously seen what I now know is "the remake" in 2007, but........

I never knew about this one. 1957, Glenn Ford, Van Heflin. It's in B&W and tremendously well done in my opinion. Another example of how understated acting with no stupid overdone blood, guts and gunfire (effects) and yet the movie just CLICKS

3:10 to Yuma is a 1957 American Western film directed by Delmer Daves, starring Glenn Ford and Van Heflin. Based on a 1953 short story by Elmore Leonard, it is about a drought-impoverished rancher who takes on the risky job of escorting a notorious outlaw to justice. In 2012, it was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".[2][3]

The title song, "The 3:10 to Yuma", was written by George Duning (music) and Ned Washington (lyrics), and sung at the beginning and end of the film by Frankie Laine. He recorded it for Columbia Records in 1957 with the Jimmy Carroll Orchestra and in 1960 with the Johnny Williams Orchestra. It was also recorded by Sandy Denny in 1967, for Island Records. The film was remade in 2007, directed by James Mangold and starring Russell Crowe with Christian Bale.

Yeah das a dang goodun.

One of my favorite Glenn Ford movies is The Fastest Gun Alive.

Let me guess the ending: the good guys prevailed & the bad guys died.

Only ones "I didn't like" were likely because of his good acting--he could play a NASTY villain !!

His quick draw was legendary. Considered the fastest gun in Hollywood. He could draw and shoot in .4 seconds.

I love the old westerns. Watch them all the time. My neck is way to red to watch any modern tv.

Glenn Ford was a great actor and I believe he directed a lot of good ones also.

Are you thinking John Ford?
Not a western, but Glenn Ford as Adm. Spruance in the conning tower during the Battle of Midway is unforgettable.

Without ‘westerns’ Hollywood would of died a slow death. Almost every great actor did at least one in his career.
