How about a option to switch the damn thing off?
I know a guy here who says you can disable the auto stop on some cars. I guess it depends what model you have. I have never owned one, but I can imagine how annoying it would become. And those starters must have a reduced life with all that stop/start.

Just gonna drop this right here... Seems appropriate...

I have been saying kind of the same thing but, weather related. For example the tornadoes that ripped through Kentucky leaving thousands of people without power. Let's say these people commute to work and there place of employment was not damaged. How are all these people supposed to get to work, hospital or, get medical attention and, food when the power is out and the car is dead?

My Mother drives a Chevy Equinox. She doesn't realize the engine stops when she's at a red light/whatever. When I drive I put the shifter in manual and toggle up to 6. the transmission shifts like normal but it doesn't autostop at the red lights.

I've also read that if you pop the hood it won't do the autostop. But who wants to ride around with the hood popped.

I learned something today. Thanks. Kim

Therefore, it stands to reason that there is a switch that can be bypassed under the hood so that the Auto-Stop can be permanently disabled.

Sure would be nice if you could switch it off with all the options available on the horn pad.

If you have a vehicle with a trailer hitch, putting a plug into the taillight socket will disable the autostop.

Once again, there must be either a trigger switch, or the trailer hitch socket is looking for a load of some sort (electrical load).

My Durango does too but you have to push it every time you start.

Chevy-Buick-Cadillac-GMC Products Looks like it might plug into the ALDL connector. Others mentioned shifting to manual and upshift to high gear to override it. Auto Stop Start - GONE FOREVER.
One of the comments posted.....If the A/C is on, the engine will not auto-shut.

Came here to post the exact same thing. Recently got a 2018 Enclave Avenir and thought there was something wrong with it. It only once shutoff when stopped and it started to shutoff then immediately turned on again. I then read the owner's manual more closely and it lists a whole lot of reasons why it may not turn off. I keep the A/C on 65 and it almost never turns off. As soon as I turn off the A/C of up the temp, it turns off at almost every stop.
