Does anyone know where to obtain the insert for the in dash cigarette lighter. I have the end that lights but need the part the goes into the housing. It looks like there is a small nut that holds the insert in the housing. The insert is damaged on the one I have.

I don't have a photo now but let me see if I can explain what I'm looking for better.

The lighter consists of three parts. The knob (the parts that glows hot), the socket and the housing that goes behind the dash. I need the socket which is the part that makes the connection to provide power to the knob (element). This socket inserts into the housing, and is secured by a threaded post and nut. A single connector plugs into the post. It's the part that make contact to the knob (element) that makes the element glow red hot. I hope that explains it better.

I know about that, I was kind of wondering if the part I need is a generic part or if someone knows a part number of who sells one, I can't seem to find a vendor online that sells one.

Do your homework, find a photo of what you need, and start a wanted thread. Aftermarket suggestions are allowed in wanted threads but sales are not allowed in non-sale/wanted threads.

Not as generic as one might think, also I try to do my homework prior to posting here (web searches, catalog look ups) . All the ones I see online are not quiet the same. I posted here in case someone else ran into the same issue and had ideas. I'll add some photos of what I need in the parts wanted section. Thanks for your replies.

Mike I made a post in wanted so if you want you can kill this thread. Honestly I was just looking for a part number or vendor, sorry to throw a wrench into the works.
