I want to rebuild my front end, using rubber replacement bushings, arms, misc. I have purchased used spindles, calipers and upper control arms from a 73 dart swinger as mine are drum brakes with 14" rims. I'm looking into new complete kits for my car, what company do you suggest buying from? Not using QA1, or neopreme kits, just using it for a daily driver, not strip use. P-S-T and Just Suspension are ones I've been looking at. Any suggestions please!! TIA...
 
Wouldn't you prefer to use U.S.A. made components???
Do it once for life....
More expensive, but well worth it, and serious peace of mind......

We have both standard and super kits for your vehicle in either rubber or poly. If you are looking for OE performance stick with the rubber. Are there any parts made in the USA today? Brand names?
 
The last set of pro forged that I bought were made in Taiwan. The quality was still 100% better the last set of moogs that I bought.
 
I knew Pro Forged were not made here, but are pretty good quality. The absolute worst quality rubber parts have been motor mounts made in India. They make Chinese rubber look like great stuff.

In the end, I would prefer North American made over anything overseas.

Yeah it's like powdered rubber. LOL

...and what's worse is, that's ALL the big box stores carry.

I used Proforged last year, really nice stuff.
Problem was the lower ball joints were no where to be found.
I had to check amazon for a few months and finally got both, one was a return.

When you put 73 up disc brakes on a pre 73 vehicle, a prepackaged "kit" gets complicated. This brake change has been done sooo many times that these vendors probably can put together a kit with all the correct parts you need. I don't know for sure. I only know that if you keep the pre 73 center link, pitman and idler arms, parts in a 73 up kit wont work. If you'll keep the pre 73 upper control arms with small ball joints, you'll need adapters for the upper hole in that spindle that aren't in a kit.
Then the stabilizer bar is another issue. Forward bushings and end links are different. First time I went through all this was 1982. I went to what was Zaglins Auto Parts on my lunch hour 3 days in a row. That sweet old lady let me go through her parts catalogs to finger out exactly what parts would do what I wanted to do. I didn't need to return anything except the brake fluid lines for the 73 A-body which were too short. When all done, I went for front end alignment. The guy pointed out that my spindles had been switched left and right. "I know that. I don't have a stabilizer bar today but I plan to have one". He says, "Well I can't get you the right specs for your radial tires. Must be some difference caused by the spindle switch". I'll admit that I didn't know back then but with todays information highway, we know switching the spindles wasn't the issue. A set of offset upper arm bushings will get better handling, tire life, etc... I don't know if the offset bushing were available in 1982. They are today. Probably not in a kit though.
There was one day when Mrs. Zaglin said, "I wouldn't want to own a car that ever belonged to you. I wouldn't know what parts to buy for it". RIP Mrs. Zaglin.
So before committing to a "kit", Consider a piece mill collection of parts. Better than return shipping stuff you can't use? Like I said before, I don't know. We both saw links to kits for 73 up. You have a 68. Good luck
 
We can accommodate on the front end kit for the difference between the 68 and 73. In that case it would be best that you call and place an order. All you need to do is tell the sales person that the car is a 68 but has 73 and up single piston disc brakes on it and we will make the necessary changes to kit. Since this is a popular upgrade it we come across this often.

Thank you all for the info you sent. At this time, my car, less engine and transmission is still in the body shop as it's being sanded down to the bare metal and having rear quarters installed. ETA out of shop is end of month. After its back, I'm removing the lower k frame and installing the kit then. Original JJ1 color with original black interior, keeping it as original as possible. Further details to follow, As said TIA...
 
I can second that proforged tie rods are the nicest on the market. I can piece together kit for you. However, when it comes to LCA bushings, you can't beat delrin. Mine are silent, hand fit to my pins and USA made. This is a one time installation. Factory style offshore rubber and urethane are not really suited to a high load area the lca sees.

Glad I came here today. I’ve had a poly super kit on my parts list and had the same mismatched setup going on from the 73+ discs. I’ll be sure to call when I order. Thanks!
