Looking for enlightenment.. amd has a 71 skin that im assuming will fit a 72 swinger just a different side marker light. Or... shermen makes a 70-76 skin at half the price.. in the opinion of anyone whose done a skin (i only need from about 3" above the wheel well down) is sherman that bad? Or amd all the way? Much appreciated

Only the side marker is different. If it were me I would go with the AMD one.
AMD discontinued most of their skins so make sure they have it in stock. They recently put them on clearance for about half price and I thought they had sold them all.

I found one left says in stock. Im grab it and chase the right side or just buy the quarter and cut it. Im just hoarding sheetmetal right now until i do a full tear down. F* it. Its gonna be all AMD or used oem

Is the skin same thickness as quarter panel?

I'm doing skins on a 72 and using AMD. They are nice quality pieces. Thick with crisp body lines that line up. I've only got the driver's side done so far but it did require a little extra work to fit the door jamb area correctly. I'm just a DIY guy but I seamed mine at the top of the quarter where it rolls over

I have new for you bro! Your not a DIY guy anymore. Your better then most bodyshops in the northeast. Top work!!

I think I bought the last pair they had when they did the big clearance on a bunch of parts. They did still have one side in stock. Yes the skins are the same gauge metal as the full quarters.

I'd just pay the extra for AMD, I went with the cheaper sherman or goodmark option (been too long) and they're stupid thin. I could pop them in and out by hand if I got bored enough.

In a world of lies. Thank you for not censoring truth! Its AMD all the way.

Ill just have to pony up for the full quArter and weld in the marker light. Shame they discontinued these. Thanks for the intel. Pm me if you want to part with the pass side.

I doubt AMD was selling many skins once the full quarters were available. Typically you are going to have rust on the quarter to roof seam and at the trunk gutter. I bought the pair of skins for a 71 swinger I have that only need the lower rear portion. At one time AMD sold a patch just for that area but I have not seen those available for a while now.
Yes the cheap brands are much thinner and the metal seems very soft to me. Stay away from those galvanized patch panels that are out there. They do not fit and your better off making your own.
Just bite the bullet and get the full panel. If you find it in stock buy sooner than later because you dont know if and when AMD will restock. AMD seems to be out of stock of half their mopar parts at the moment.

Welcome to socialism..

I bought my quarter panels from wildcat mopar in Oregon. Original metal. They have 72 quarters in stock I believe.

They are awesome to deal with, I’ve bought several panels and other parts. Let us know how it turns out.

Can’t beat original metal.

Being from the northeast. I cant even fathom clean oem sheetmetal from 1972 on Chrysler product no less. The **** they put on the roads here has 4 year old f150's already rotted to ****.
And...
Love me some slot mags!

I bought this full quarter from Wildcat and had it shipped to Ohio. Then I didn't use it. saving it for a future project I guess.
