The biggest expenses are in the peripheral equipment- you've got to build a suspension capable of some semblance of handling with an 816-836# engine over your front wheels- definitely not off-the-shelf parts. Adapting an automotive transmission with appropriate gearing that doesn't have you shifting @ 2k all the time... And I guarantee that those headers you quoted won't fit an A body...
