1967 A body power steering shaft play

So guys, i got a 67 barracuda with power steering i converted to manual using that adapter, everything was good for some time but now i noticed alot of play, its not in the coupler, its after the coupler, going into the round housing. into the firewall, it stops there inside the car the steering wheel is solid the play is Up and down not side to side. Any ideas

So the play is at the end of the column cover where the shaft comes out? There's a bearing you can get to press in the column right there to replace the really crappy "bearing" that's probably failed there. It's a pretty popular mod. You should be able to find it with a general search.
 
I also remember a delrin bushing somebody offered at one time. I think that would be a better option. I'm not sure Chrysler ever used a real "bearing" there anyway. All I've ever seen was a white plastic or nylon cap on the end.
 
I found the c clip holding the upper bearing had popped off once before. Not sure if this could be your problem but stranger things have happened.
 
Did you just extend the shaft or get the proper length manual steering shaft? There might not be much overlap where the two pieces of the shaft meet.
