Looking for some pictures of aftermarket shifters in A body’s. I have a bench seat with a column shift. Converting to manual valve body so I need a shifter. Really dislike the aftermarket shifters and hideous cable. Any thoughts and pics?

My favorite one way back when was the B&M Quick Click shifter. It was a bare bones straight up ratchet shifter. It had no reverse lockout though, so it didn't last, because it didn't meet the reverse lockout with NHRA. The closest one that does and is still made is the B&M Pro Ratchet. I've used a couple of those and it is a really good high quality shifter, it's just not as cool. But yes, it's still cable operated.

This is the shifter I am using in my Barracuda, but it has bucket seats.
I like it alot.

PPP shifter or Turbo Action SCS Cheetah

Used a reverse manual valve body with a column shifter for years, daily driver. I know I'm not the only one.
The factory did it in early Super Stock cars.

Yeah good luck with that. I've installed several of their shifters. More appropriately "shitters". The shift rods from the shifter mechanism to the transmission are so small diameter they can bend and fold up easily. Not seen one I'm impressed with so far.

If you want a gate shifter, I would recommend a Winters/Art Carr. The cable comes out of the shifter to the rear (under your bench seat) I think it is a rear entry to the trans (keeps it away from header heat) and has specific gate for torqueflite, either forward or reverse pattern.
Shows $219 in my latest summit catalog, but I think the price has gone up. Still a couple hundred less than a Cheetah.

Me too, it’s awesome. And nobody will know because it’s just not cool to have to that way, which makes it over the top cool! Right up front, not cluttering up the floor if you was three people in the front seat. And you will never need another cable.

I modified the gate for the reverse manual VB. Thousands of passes with it.

Mine was too. Tap down for second, pull down for third.

I was thinking this last night.. how did you modify your gate to pull into third?

So how does this work? Do you have to manually shift with the column shifter for every gear? upshift and downshift?

Absolutely! It’s a manual valve body right? And that’s the lever to shift the car. It’s just great to operate.
