My 72 duster currently has /6 leaf springs some 90/10 shocks and a pinion snubber. the passenger spring is way too soft and i really dont like the ride quality. i drive the car on the street a lot but also do a lot of drag racing. the car is currently a high 11 second car but future plans to run much faster. probably mid 9s with a new set up. ive been looking at the caltrac rear suspension but ive also been looking at the chassis engineering ladder bar system with an anti roll bar. my car sits very low in the rear end and id like to keep the appearance. what do you guys suggest?

If you are staying with leaf springs I would use Assassin bars by Smith Racecraft in Texas. They have way more adjustability than the Caltrac and that’s a big thing.

If you are going to the work of coil overs, skip the ladder bars and go to a 4 link. If you are not willing to learn to tune a 4 link, leave the leaf springs and use the Assassin bars.

And no matter which way you decide, you NEED double adjustable shocks on all 4 corners. Never underestimate what a good shock will do for chassis tuning. Any single adjustable or 3 way or 9 way shock is a waste of money. If you can’t adjust bump and rebound separately you might as well not bother with an adjustable shock.

Edit: I forgot to mention Smith Racecraft also makes a split mono spring. I’d buy his bars and springs and never look back, unless you decide on a 4 link.

for the sake of having to install a 4 link i would rather stick with the leafs. ill look into the smith racecraft stuff. what shocks would you reccomend

For what it's worth on my '70 duster I'm using factory H.D. springs, pinion snubber and Summit drag shocks..car 60' in the low 1.40's runs 11.80's..

I've been low elevens on Mexican super stock springs and summit adjustable shocks, but only a best of 1.59 60. The nine second car had ladder bars and leaf springs (don't ask) and went a best of 1.38. I'm gonna slow the ex eight second car down to low tens, it has a four link and coil overs.
