Over the years I've acquired a vast collection of thumb drives, some marked with masking tape, some not at all. I recently wanted to make a bootable "live" install USB for the newest Linux, and this entailed a "side project" because when you do that, the "live" OS booted from the USB cannot save anything. But there's a procedure online to make what is called "persistent" which means that you CAN same some stuff, which I did.

But I STILL was without a way to mark the damn things, and they are so small they can "get lost."

So a chunk of heat shrink and a string tied paper tag.................just ran the string through, looped it, and heat shrunk it. Now I know what it is, and it's big enough to not lose quite as fast

If it is cold out, I insert them in gloves along with my fingers.

Good job. I like it.

Looks like the hall pass to go to the bathroom at high school. It was a steering wheel in drivers ed, and a 24" 2x4 in woodshop. Puppy used to save the running config as a large file and it would option to boot to that in GRUB. (boot screen, ie puppy or working1206.sys or something to that effect on my last puppy load...back in 2006) I think you can put 20 USB thumbdrives into an array of 5 hubs at one time if your adventurous.

That's easy. I don't have any.

And I have some but don't index em
In fact my thumb drives are like a box of chocolates

LOL I HATE having to stuff them in the USB port to see what is on them.

I do need some though. I want to put all our DVD movies on flash drive.

Just color code them with different color Bread Bag Ties.

Then you just need to remember what the different colors represent.

My Yellow tag one in my Installation Software Files. Have had that one handy for years.

When the other different subject file flash drives fill up, I move them on to organized files in the file servers for easy access.

Just fire up the server and look down the list and there the wanted files are.

LOL won't do you much good if the server is the one that needs "help." Most of mine have no holes to tie to. I may get some paint and number them and make an index.

Label maker with small font and scissors.

I have one bootable USB drive for every different model of computer we have at my work place that contains the OS load and the drivers for that model.

I also use a paint pen dot or Roman numeral to identify my personal audio repository drives that are very small and identical.
One is the master that gets changed or added to and then replicated to the others.

I try to buy different brands and different colored sleeves. I have music, audiobooks, sermons, pictures, work, and backups. They are usually in one drawer, except the music ones in the car,but are getting out of hand. Didn't think of movies yet, might have to look into that. Maybe white heat shrink tubing and a sharpy. That way you could change them if you wanted.

Most of the drives I have, have a small hole at the top.
Get some key tags ( pictured below) and a small note book.
Fasten the tag number it write the number in the note book and what’s on the drive. The key tags are small than the ones you’re using.
