Hi, Newbie here. Just purchased '67 Dart (68 GTS clone). Is the vin number anywhere on the car other than the door jamb plate? CT wants vin in 2 places for registration. Thanks

Dooooohhhhh,

Just reread your post

Since it is a 67 (not a 68) the answer is no as cuda Al stated but...

Vin is on door piler

The fender tag has parts of the VIN and a sequence number.

That sequence number is stamped into the drivers side trunk lip under the seal and on the drivers side rad support under the radiator fluid sticker,

I have heard of some on the support behind the rear seat.

The transmission if origional to the car might have the Sequence Number. (That parts a bit foggy right now)

I don't think there is anything on the block

no way without a build sheet to tie the order that is stamped as you said to the vin

67 you can get the IBM certicard from Chrysler Historical Services, which has vin, so#, etc.

I had to train Illinois State Police about 68 and earlier cars after they came to the restoration shop I was working at and were going to confiscate the dash's we had out of cars because they couldn't match the VIN's on those dash's to the bodies that were stripped for restoration. I ended up having a couple of classes for them after the main guy asked me too. If you have a fender tag show them how everything lines up, and if you have a broadcast sheet then you are golden, if not they have to be brought to understand how this works...

I had to explain the same thing about my son's Barracuda fastback (old drag car that had been hacked a bit). I offered to go get the GTS convertible and the two broadcast sheets to show them how it matched up. They accepted my explanation and gave us the title.

Go get your vin checked at a different place. They should know 67 only has one

I went through this not long ago in Connecticut. I had a local garage do my vin check and took that to motor vehicle. The garage saw just one location and didn't bother looking for another one.

I live just 20 minutes from you so if you want the name of the garage let me know.

That would be great! Please let me know name of that garage. Maybe see you this summer cruising! Thanks, Skip

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Car has no fender tag, but wouldn't help anyway. I'm sure it will get solved one way or another.

Here is the place Skip. I would call them first or if you want I can stop in and speak with them in person to save you a trip.
Perfect! Thanks!
