Say someone has a '72 Valiant 4dr that he just likes alot but it has a rusted torsion bar crossmember, rusty front floors, and rusted front frame rails and wants to get the car repaired. I guess a complete front clip would be the best way to fix it but not the only way. What would someone expect to pay to have a job like this done on this '72 Valiant?

Way more than a 4-dr is worth. Unless it was "Dad's car" then find one that doesn't need so much rust repair.

Definitely buy another car with a good front clip! The labor for the repairs only, not including parts would be far more than the car is worth. It would have to have extreme sentimental value to proceed with this. My guess? 4-7000.00 depending upon the condition of everything else including the cowel, rad support, inner fenders etc..

Funny, I am going through almost exact same scenario presently. Youngest boys first car was a '71 4 door Valiant we put together. Car sat for last couple years while he drove a Jeep. He wanted to start driving Valiant again, but I found a little RF frame rail issue, was now a big RF frame rail issue. We were kind of at a crossroads with car, when I decided to jump on Craigslist one day ( haven't been on that site for over a year) and up popped a '72 Scamp in the same color as the Valiant ! Car had been sitting awhile, somebody removed front end and bolted on some junk fenders and hood. We had all good parts from Valiant to bolt right on. Bought car and eventually he will have a good car, that's also a good investment, and carries plenty of reminders of his first car. Win, win, win !

If a person can not do this type work himself, best to find another car like said. If a person can weld and fab some metal, floors are not that hard, but can take some time. Doing the T bar member is more involved but again for that you need something to weld in there, other than a patch, if really bad.

Believe me I would tackle this myself if I had the place to dismantle it and work on it without any problems. It does need the inner fenders. I have those as well as the front frame rails and torsion member. Just need the floors. It does have a sentimental value and it's unique, I think. Factory 2 tone car, black with white, with white painted top. Black interior. Really a good looking car for a 4 door. The rear rails are in great shape in contrast to the front ones. I drove this car to work from '07 'til about 2018 and thoroughly enjoyed it. I sure miss the a-body heater which I rebuilt. I will keep checking out my options. Thanks for all the input!
