My son bought this 69 charger. It has 6.1 in it. The intake is to close to the wiper motor. The engine needs to come up. For the drive shaft angle to be right. Does anyone know if they make a low profile intake. Thanks

Might have to go aftermarket although I believe that the 5.7 intakes fit as well so you could look at a car version of the 5.7 intake which I am pretty sure is lower. The intake you have is reportedly a very good intake for performance so you might have to give some up to change.

Another option might be is to go to the 3spd wiper motor which is flatter than the 2spd.

Surprised you don't have more room. We have a 6.1 in an A-Body 69 Barracuda and the 6.1 intake is not a problem. Also using a 3-speed wiper motor...
There are other late model wiper motors that have been adapted, both in the engine compartment and moved inside the firewall. All the ones I have seen modified have been for the 6.4 intake, not for a 6.1
None of the 6.1 Swaps into B-Bodies that I have seen, have modified firewalls or relocated wiper motors to accommodate the 6.1 intake... They just fit. “¯\_(ツ)_/¯“
Maybe their engines sit a little lower or forward?
Here is another 1969 Charger with a 6.1 Hemi. 3-speed wiper motor is a better fit.
This 6.1 looks like it may be lower in the engine compartment?
Good luck.

If the engine was forwarded it would be good. I looked at the engine mounts they haven’t been modified. The crossmember has been lowered. Trying to find out were the mount kit was bought.

I just want the driveshaft. Not to be in a bind. They got the transmission down about 4’’ .

What transmission does it have and is it an original mount. Maybe you can raise the tans.

This is mine. It looks to me the transmission is sitting too low comparing to the other picture. Look at the transmission crossmember and the mount they used. On my 67 barracuda I had to fabricate a crossmember. I’m sure they did, unless it’s a 727 they may been able to use it. On the A bodies they can’t. I don’t have a pic from the other angle. But you can see how high up it sits. If mine was lower down it would hit the wiper.

Someone made the transmission mount. The tail shaft it pointed down. It is very low. If the wipe motor was gone I could raise it. Or if the engine was moved forward it would be good . I could raise it.

Have you tried putting a floor jack under the trans and raising it? The rear of that intake should move forward when the trans is raised.

Would almost bet whoever installed an overdrive trans and didn't cut the tunnel or t-bar crossmember. Just built a mount to hang it under there.

Yup, Agree with what 392heminut said.
Put a floor jack under the trans tail to support it, remove the trans crossmember and jack the trans up by the tail. Where the pivot point is with the motor mounts, the back of the engine should move up and forward...

That’s exactly what will happen it will raise up and forward. Take a picture of the trans mount you maybe able to get a larger isolation coupler to put it there to raise it. Once it’s raised your drive shaft angle will definitely change. What transmission is it. If you jack it up and it hits the floor pan at the tail but have clearance around the shifter and middle of the trans you may just need to take a hammer to the tunnel a bit. If they had to cut some of the tunnel but not enough. That’s why I was asking what transmission it has.

Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. Mounts set in a saddle. I could take the mount bolts out and still the engine would not move forward. I am going to make my own mount. Thanks

Yes, looks like the builder painted you into that corner. Must be spool mounts?
Move the wiper motor to the inside or move the engine/transmission... (New Mounts)
Holley makes G3 Hemi Mounts and Crossmember for B-Body swap, Moves the engine and trans forward. Just an option if interested in going that direction.

Keep us posted.

Like so many of the others mentioned I too have a 6.1 in mine. I also had to fabricate my own trans member I have no conflict with wiper motor. It is tight but not in a bind. I agree that I would loosen it all up and put Jack under tranny correct the pitch modify mount and likely solves impedance with wiper motor. No way would I swap the intake, the one you have is a great intake.

Swapping the intake would cost more$$$. The truck 5.7 is lower but ugly as hell. That’s why I have a 6.1 on my 5.7, also the ports are different I have adapter plate on mine to make up the difference.
