Stop in for a cup of coffee

On a cold snowy day, we've been in the basement finishing going through the end of boxes from the move.
Cheryl declared football started in an hour, so we're done and time for a Crown. :D
Didn't have to tell me twice.

Got the heads on Jeep by noon. He had the left one done. Other side is a bit more challenging with the harness and other crap in the way. He is going to try to get the intake on yet today. We figured out where all the vac tubes go, shouldn’t be to bad. Will go back tomorrow and help with timing chains etc. He is getting some tabbed bolts made up for the exhaust flanges, so can’t finish till next weekend.
Not long after I got home boss called “Blew apart an impeller for exhaust on a printing press. Can you come in early?”. Got in at 1:45 and it’s up and running again.

That was a whole lotta fun. Carpet trimmed and most of the trim panels are back on. I dont have the ambition to lift seats in. Well, the back seat, its heavy and akward. Got most of that spilled paint cleaned up off the trim. Looks 99%better. Plus all the other trim got cleaned before i put it back. So, seats get a thorough cleaning, then seat covers for the front seats.

Wife wasn’t happy with the grocery haul or lack there of so she sent me to Walmart, and didn’t believe me when I said there’s bare shelves, so I took pics. And thus Walmart has item limits on dairy, meats and pastas

I got most of the snow moved. I didn't blow out the alley. Too many vehicles ready packed down the snow. I'll just use the 4wd to get in and out. Andy, my oldest called a couple hours ago and crashed his Jeep. It's like a 2017 Trail Hawk. He was following some traffic when someone slowed to turn. He couldn't get stopped so he took the curb and hit a small utility pole. It doesn't look too bad but it popped both bags.. probably take a cooler and radiator.. probably $10,000+

Yeah. They had all the Meats roped off and had employees limiting access to the meats area to only so many people at a time. One way in one way out. And they were marking hands with markers . They said it was to prevent people from going thru multiple times. Not sure if this is country or corporate wide or just a local issue but they didn’t even do this in 2020

Ouch! Is okay though right?

Just talked to my buddy Mopar Joe. He works for Chickasaw County Secondary Roads. He was out plowing snow with his truck and sideswiped a parked car buried in the snow. It was parked the wrong way and he thought he had enough room. He hit it with the wing blade and his description ""opened it up like a sardine can" It took the whole side out of it. Oops!

Nothing like that here , but not fully stocked either. Mae asked me to get a couple bottles of Coke on the way home last night. It’s only convenience stores open at that time. First place didn’t have a single 2 liter bottle. Next place only had 3 ( one after I got mine)

Just crazy times I suppose.

I should text my buddy, former Jarhead and big time Doomsday Pepper. Owns a small market/store that caters to those types down in Alabama. See what he thinks

That’s good.

In a side note, I’m thinking about making my own wine this year if my grapes and raspberry have a good year

You'll need a label similar to Manuel's
The back of the bottle says " No Filters No Water No ****"
Gotta love them Dairymen
He was an Elk's Club member so he had the bartender save all the wine bottles at the lodge for him.

Why arent we experiencing similar shortages here? Last trip to the store all the shelves were full. Im thinking higher population creates greater demand.

Competed in Revolver league today! All 10s! Might get me more sponsor money. All good in Fargo. We only got 6-8 inches of snow so we are already dug out. Sadly while competing today I had to stop over and over due to back cramps from holding arms extended after shoveling snow for a couple of days. Messed up my mojo!

Possibly. But most of the shortages here in the US is because due to environmental rules, nearly all of our food grade plastics come from China... and the west coast ports are SWAMPED due to Californian laws around Covid and different union strikes and rules and such. For my company to receive anything off a ship, it’s 6-12weeks from the time it entered the holding pattern out in California. To ship out of the port, 16-22 weeks right now just to get loaded into a container, another 4-6 weeks to make a ship. We have a machine due to go to the Philippines that is sitting in a warehouse in LA, waiting on a container, and has been sitting in the same spot since September 17th.

Plus, the way the Us logistical system works, shipments of vital supplies are regularly re-route from the less populated and rural areas to the bigger cities, being that I’m essentially in the middle of Indianapolis, Louisville, Cincinnati and St Louis, with Chicago just 4 hrs north, it adds to the issue.

the good news is, we for years take a portion of our tax check and stock up on can goods to get us thru the entire year since those never go bad. So we’re good there. And right before we got Covid, we’d made our quarterly Sams Club run, so we’re okay. Wife just likes to keep fresh stuff on hand too, veggies and meats .

Using my utility knife to cut carpet, i had spasms in my hands from gripping the knife and carpet. Joints locking up.

While that is a huge problem, it doesn’t explain why your area appears to be worse than other for empty shelves.
