Depending on the year of the replacement engine, these are some other differences that you will notice....They went from spark plug tubes to external plugs in '75, the harmonic balancer timing marks changed over the years, as did the intake and exhaust manifolds. After 1980 or so, they went from solid cams to hydraulic, and the valve cover changed too. Keep these things in mind when you start swapping things around. Some items will have no problem, but, others won't mix and match at all.

None of that makes any difference for the swap he wants to do. He just needs to keep everything on the donor engine, that belongs with that engine, except for the items I mentioned. The items that need changing to do the swap, interchange with no issues.
