This has been bugging me for awhile. A member here was looking for some parts which it turned out that I had. I responded with a price (less shipping), pictures and the parts were new so condition was not an issue. The member responded that “I’ll take them”. I responded that the $50 worth of parts would cost $16.25 to ship. I have heard nothing more in 3 months.
Does this happen often to other people?

All the time.:(

Yup......Crickets!

Don't give up on the rest of us because of a bad experience. Common courtesy would be to advise the seller that "I am no longer interested".

Especially if the guy didn't start a wanted thread. AS a member I wouldn't respond to any request that isn't in a sale or wanted thread. You never know, it could be a scam especially if the member is new.

Probably the biggest complaint I hear about the site is people not following through with sales

Do you happen to have a 7576 Edelbrock air gap intake for sale….I ran a wanted add looking for one and not even a scammer replied

A couple weeks ago there was a Wanted To Buy posted. NOS only with a part number. I spent an hour finding the two I had, both perfect. I took pictures, went to PM them, and the post had been deleted. Not marked Found, which would have been fine, just poof, gone. I wasn't really looking to sell them anyway, but would have helped a FABO member. Next time I prolly won't be as quick to be helpful.

It happens all the time. I have guys that have agreed to the price, the shipping and insurance. They have sent me all their info. I gave them my pay pal. Then nothing. Now I don’t give them the time of day. I also have guys that have given me a down payment then missed 1,2 or 3 payments and I have t heard back from them no matter how many messages I send them. I do not.

Wow. I can't believe what I am reading. Aparenty neither of you read my post #4.

Hopefully the members/buyers are not laying in the hospital on a ventilator. Pretty hard to contact the seller if you can’t even breathe.

Did he leave his email or phone number in the wanted ad?

It's common for new members to do that on want or for sale ads. Even reply's. They just don’t know the rules

I do a quick check of any buyer or sellers post history. I little digging can save you from a big PITA.

Scammers tend to reply to wanted ads. Then they don't expose themselves to the whole group who may recognize them.

I have a few boxes ready to ship to members, that disappeared also. Happens alot. Probably more so now with a shipping hike.

I find it very odd that people that have been in business/dealt with the public/are over ten years old/are not used to this kind of treatment. I don’t advertise on here for the same reasons. I have dealt with the public since I was nine years old and it has been years since I have heard a new lie/reason/excuse for the same treatment.

I looked at a 72 Dart other day I noticed driving down a road sitting behind a small business. I stopped and asked the owner about it and he replied " I buy these old cars, I don't sell them"> He is my kinda guy!!!!
I am that way on parts now days, I might need that part one day. If not the wife will sell it off some day when need be! Or take it to the scrap yard.

No feedback for this member, but on the forum for years with hundreds of messages and posts. Oh well, I guess everyone is entitled to flake out now and then.
