Stop in for a cup of coffee

Well just got back in after clearing snow. Sheared auger shaft so had to do an impromptu repair mid driveway. As I was laying down in the drive on a super comfy bed of ice and snow with tools and hands inside snow blower repairing shaft I thought to myself. How on earth do non gearheads handle this stuff? I had enough spare parts and what have you to just repair it and get right back at it. But I read on here everyday where someone is fixing a leaf blower, chainsaw, turntable or what have you. Seriously how does the other half live? Do they just throw away broken stuff and buy new? Do they hire out all their repairs? I guess I never really thought about it.
Have asked myself that many times
