You must have power steering? I have manual, and while the steering shaft goes between tubes, the joint is well past the tubes and clears easily. I did shorten the steering column jacket, as the rubber seal at the bottom of the jacket butted against one of the header tubes. Figured it would melt if I didn't move it. And I have run it without that seal, but hot air from the engine compartment blows right up the column and onto me. Not comfortable in the summer.
