Doesn't seem legal to sell fender tag etc

I got my 66 Signet from a salvage yard around 2004. Didn't worry about a title, as it was going to be a racecar. Last year decided, I wanted to put it on the road. Had to jump through a few hoops, but now have a clear Florida title. All nice and legal.

Actually kept the original VIN. Was able to get the correct paperwork. Local salvage company (not the one where I got the car) ran the vin number. The number was still valid. They went through the procedure of putting a "mechanics lien" on the car, and getting the title in their name. They then transfered the title to me.
PS: There was no issue of the car not really belonging to me. The owner of the salvage yard knows me (not well), and I did have a hand written bill of sale from the original salvage company, on their bill head.

Yes. I'm lucky. I try to treat people with respect, and the way I would like to be treated. I have found it pays dividends

Just a FYI: The salvage yard where I bought the car, called me to tell me they had it. Only charged me scrap weight price. I got a few cars from them, that way. The place got sold when the owner died. Whenever they got a old Mopar they would let me know. The also had a couple of others they let know about Fords, and GM's. This yard did not sell parts. After a car was kept for the legal period of time, if the owner did not reclaim it, the car was crushed. So they tried to save what they could of the old ones.

This whole discussion reminds me of one I had with a Wyoming Highway Patrolman about sirens. "It's not illegal to own one, just to use it."
