While trying, somewhat futilely, to get a bit more organized in my shop, I came across this ignition module in a tub of ignition parts. Due to OFS (Old Fart Syndrome), I have no idea where I got it or where it came from.

It's a five pin, and I have no idea what the adjuster is for- a rev limiter, perhaps?
It is only about 2/3 the size of a standard module, and no transistor/heat sink on it... no markings or numbers on it whatsoever.

Anybody have any ideas? Thanks!

No idea never saw one before. Rev limiter? It has the plug for a ecu but the body of a VR? Those I have seen adjustable. Any numbers on it at all? The other is definately a ECU low rev OEM

Yeah, the stock one I just put in the picture for a size comparison.
If it is some brand of performance module, I find it odd that it's a 5 pin instead of the more universal 4 pin types. May help date it to the years before they went 4 pin.
No numbers or any type of identification on it at all. It was covered in a thick coat of black paint that was flaking off (no paint marks), cleaned it up a bit looking for stampings, no luck. Dug through some old speed catalogs and DC catalogs looking for something similar, but no luck there either. Not Industrial or Chrysler Marine, either; as near as I can tell.
Yes, seems odd that it uses a VR type case. I'm half-tempted to just hook it up and see what it does, but not until I've got some idea what I'm dealing with.

It is possible it might not even be an ignition module, 'per se'

My guess? Aftermarket rev limiter or aftermarket, adjustable VR.

I used to have many of those, but, never got a call for one. All mine came off police cars.

Yes, it was an actual Mopar part. Not sure what the adjustment did. I presumed like you that it might be a rev limiter. I know that those cars had an A/C cutout feature for high RPM use. Not sure if this had anything to do with it or not.

So, being a factory 5 pin, it must be from '71-'72ish- now to hunt down a parts book (of course I don't have those years...) and maybe a service manual to try to figure out what the adjustment does. Off to Mymopar.com and see what I can find.

Mine were off mid-70's 440 C-body cars and they all were orange IIRC.

Wouldn't 5 pin go all the way back to 68 / 69.

I recall seeing in a parts book some "packages" like police, taxi etc. Toward the front of the cataloge

I don't think these existed in 68-9, but again, they may not be ignition modules either.............

I believe the ECU ign became standard in 1971-2, not before that.

The police package did have something that went off when the AC was on. some sort of ac cut off I think if it was in a chase I believe. Not sure if it is that or not.
