MECUM DART?


That article has misleading errors on the history of this particular car. The Mecum write up is more accurate.

This yellow dart was raced from 68 to about 77-78. But it was not heavily wheel tubbed and did not get a full extensive cage. It wasn’t cut up by typical 1978 standards. And that is how Tom Hoover stumbled onto it in Pennsylvania where he was originally from. It had a “blown motor”. That’s a pretty generic term.

BTW, Tom left Chrysler to work for a Locomotive company in 1978.

Competitive NHRA S/S cars by 1978 had full wheel tubs and full roll cages. This particular car may have been racing in another lesser class and/or sanctioning group.
