Criminals Are Using Mopars In Detroit
There is no key to turn. They are push button start cars that use a RFH to read the key FOB. We just had two of them broken into at the shop this week. What they do is break a window to get into the car, This way the alarm doesn't go off when the door is opened. Then they removed the right kick panel to access the STAR connector and use a laptop with special software and a special wiring connector to get into the RFH and "backdoor" the controller. From there they can wipe the key FOBs that are programed to the vehicle and make it think the laptop is the new key FOB. It's not as easy as you think, that is why I have two cars to repair. They couldn't get them to start.
