Magnum swapping the 72 Scamp!

Love the car, love the build, but I gotta say that the bumperless look isn't it for me.. it just looks unfinished. I get it, less weight at the very least, but that's what they make fiberglass for. I just think you need to get a 'glass one and maybe adjust it to fit better than the originals do or make some kind of filler panel.

Yeah it will go back on soon, I agree it looks unfinished in current state. I do like the idea of the barracuda bumper but that would be down the road.

I was able to put some miles on it this weekend and it was a blast driving it again. The bumper is back on too :D

Trans temps would climb up a bit (220ish in the pan) so I thought it would be a good idea to install a cooler. I went with the Tru-Cool M7B, which I guess is the same as a B&M supercooler.

After finding all the correct fittings and such I was able to find a spot for it and fab up some brackets for it. I have to say it was definitely a tight fit with the AC condenser in there but I made it work.

First the bumper and air dam came off again... haha

And bracket close up, I used some existing holes on the AC condenser bracket:

I also had a chance to take doggo for a ride. Trans temps are staying around 150 now which might be a little too cool, but the weather hasn't kicked up yet into the 90s much. We shall see.

a couple small updates...

I was finally able to get an H pipe installed and my exhaust welded up. The final result is a much better sound and no more leaking clamps (which was quite annoying). Here she is over the pit:

I also installed a quick fuel 750 mechanical secondary carb that I like quite a bit more than the edelbrock. Seems to have picked up a couple ponies and its a bit more consistent in its power delivery. I haven't tuned it completely but its in good running order.

Last but not least, I had some fun on one of the local mountain roads here. No luck yet on re-attaching my front sway bar so the handling wasn't exactly confidence inspiring. However I wanted to give her a hard core shake down in some 95 degree heat going up hill and the engine only ever saw a max of 190 degrees, and about 180 max in the trans pan (avg trans temp around 160 tho.

Heres some video fun

Beautiful car man! You’re doing great work on it. Hope mine turns out half that good someday lol

Any updates ?

Still running and driving?

No new updates but still running and driving. I’ve done a few small things here and there though. The pandemic shut down the drag strip for a while and I haven’t had to commute so it hasn’t been getting driven as much.

I also picked up an 85 Omni GLH I have been building on the side as well. My driveway is Christmas colored haha

I saw your YouTube video on doing the badges on the GLH. I was into turbo mopars for awhile, enjoyed my LeBaron GTC Turbo II for quite a while. Glad to hear all is well.

Just saw your ad. Sad to see the car sell, but totally understand. Was definitely one of my favorites! Good luck on your other projects!
