At 400+hp, What kills A904s?
The original poster didn't say he had a race only car, plus he stated that he was going to a four speed and just wanted to use the 904 for a short while longer until he could afford the four speed changeover. Does that sound like somebody wanting to drop 3-4 grand into his 904? Obsessing over a 904 for an extra tenth in the quarter is insanity on a street car. How about you guys stop freaking out like a bunch of maniacs; trying to get everybody to drop a bundle in an inherently weak-*** tranny? NOBODY has even suggested anything to strengthen his 904 to make it live a little longer; just all out big bucks. I put five .061 Red Eagles in EVERY V8 904 direct drum I overhaul. No stock clutches in the direct drum and never a stock front band. I also use a Kevlar front band in every single one. I think most of the posters on this thread are POSERS who pay somebody to do their trans, and have no real experience THINKING and DOING. They spent a ton of money on their trans so now they want everybody else to suffer the same. HAHAHAHAHA
