Worst trends in hot rodding over the years

The true "Hot Rod" crowd came from post WWII. Where they took their war improvisational mechanics skills and applied to cars to make them perform better. The bulk were the "Lakesters" that ran their high performance machines on the dried lake beds out West. This of course gave birth to Drag Racing. And the now "Gassers"

That crowd was not fans of Muscle Cars. Calling them "Factory sellouts." And did that detour any of us? Nope. We had a platform that cannot only compete with the hotrods of yesteryear on the track. But also maintain some streetabilty? (And in my opinion an improved "Cool" factor.)

The collapse of raw performance due to environmental concern brought an end to the Muscle car era. (At least as we knew it.) In the mid 70s. This of course gave birth to the "Tuner" crowd starting in mid 80s. They found ways around the EPA restrictions to their credit. But also brought styling changes that leaves us Muscle heads just scratching?

Now it's EV's turn. With some very impressive performance numbers as well as efficiencies. Yes, they fall even farther behind in the "Cool factor." But it is the future. Where Mom's grocery getter can lay down an 11 sec 1/4 if she so choose. Advancements will not wait because of crying and hoping "Fonzi" rides in and saves the day? I'm looking forward to my first EV purchase. Just needs a little more range and better charging support. I would say 4-5 years from now?
Well said.
