I tore down my tired 273 for a Winter Freshen-Up and I just can't find a Solid Cam for it...
It's a Non Commando 2bbl motor from a '65 Barracuda with a Stock Solid Cam.
It's just a Quick Hone, Re-Ring, Fresh Bearings and a New Pump.
The Coating on the Cam Bearings was Flaking Off So, I've replaced them...
I really don't want to put this Tired old Cam back in there, but I will if there is no other choice.
I did keep the Lifters in Order just in case and have acquired N.O.S. TRW Lifters as well.
A couple of Generous Members have looked thru their stuff but nothing has panned out.
Not a Race Motor, No 4bbl, No Jumping Beer Cans. Just a TurnKey Driver.
Ordering an Isky or Similar is Difficult and takes months to Ship...
If Anyone has any Idea's or can Help in some way I'd be Eternally Grateful!
Thanks FABO!

Call herbert cams or Schneider cams.
Schneider has a nice .473 224 110 264 that's nice in 273

Do I really want a .468 lift tho?
I think my cam was around .395
Can I get 20mpg with this in there?

That cam sure doesn't look bad especially for a stock driver. Did you pull the lifters out in order so they could be matched up with the lobes they came off of? (highly recommended)
If you get a new cam and lifters be careful to measure the new lifters compared to the originals as far as pushrod length. You may need to measure for new pushrods as well.

Do you know you can put a hyd. cam in there if you want? Then you can use the adj. rocker arms to adj. them. Really easy.

Send your cam and lifters to Oregon for regrind and refacing. Grind number 895- 195@.006/222@.020/.398 lift 111 LSA, but LSA will be dependent to within 2 degrees of what the stock cam has to start with.

That 270S will turn that 2bl into an all out gutless pig. Ask me how I know.
We tried with LD4B, 270S, and Eddy 1406. Mind you, the torque converter is stock stall i believe.
As someone said get a hyd and adjust accordingly BUT, now you're into hyd lifters, which most aren't very good from what I've read.

Dont buy comp.

If you want less, Schneider has a .420 as well they dont list. Better cores than comp and a mom n pops business unlike comp.

This with some cheap 340 springs will do exactly what you want.

I was looking at that one and settled on the Isky E4. The Schneider is a bit bigger than the E4 but not by a lot.

I love isky too. The mom n pops places seem to cost a hair more... but its cause the quality is there. They cant afford to buy pallets of chicon cheap cast cores and warranty it all or not when it goes bad. .so they use high end cores and you pay more..but get more.

If you liked how the original cam ran and the 20mpg then just put it back in. It was working fine and will continue to do so with the proper oil.

Yessir, I did

Idunno, that's why I asked You! Lol
Off the shelf, the 270S or "somethin close" is about it. If it's installed like it needs to be, it can run well and get decent mileage too. If you can find something with a bit less duration, that would work, too. I'm with @MOPAROFFICIAL in that I'm not crazy about Comp. Maybe check into that .420 lift from Schneider he was talkin about. Schneider makes good stuff. What's wrong with the stock cam?
