Carburetor Recommendation

Check eBay. Someone on here was recently talking about a couple of brand new ones (not Chinese clones either, beware of those) that were listed on there.
You may be able to run a different 1 barrel carb than what came originally on a slant 6, for instance they ran Carter YF on Ford inline 6s and also on slant 6s in industrial application as well as export models. A Rochester monojet might be a possibility as well/should bolt up, BUT you may have to adapt your linkage and trans kickdown a bit. Might be a cheap consequence in doing so if it makes a difference between getting a good carburetor that will run the engine as it should run as the older these get, the harder stuff is gonna be to find.
If you're not in a hurry keep watching and what you want will appear.
I know like 2 weeks ago there was a guy on there that had a brand new (not rebuilt) Holley 1945 on there for a later 70d slant 6.
What you don't want would, be an 80s one with the computer control solenoid. (Not all of them were)
I have a really good 1945 on my truck, that won't be needed once I swap out the engine as I have a super 6 stack that I am gonna use.
But I can't let go of the 1 bbl til I do the swap because the truck needs to stay mobile under it's own power til that day comes. It'll be this spring some time.
I lucked into a guy on the .org site that had a bundle of NOS BBD carbs last summer, one of which went into my son's truck and the other is headed for mine. Sorry he don't have any more though. What you want and need IS out there, guaranteed. It might just not be there "today".
I hate to think how many good cores have gone to scrap since these engines quit being made.
