Throw out bearing

I think that is a conventional linkage set up. It should loose free travel as the disc wears.
Well, man. I'm not debating it. That's not how these work. I've worked on these trucks since I was a kid doing maintenance for U-Haul. They all gain free travel when the disc wears. Every single one. In fact, my Valiant does the same thing. The only thing I've ever seen anything different on was a hydraulic or cable style clutch. Any of the old linkage style clutches I've ever worked on.....and that's a BUNCH has gained free travel as the clutch wears.

multi finger
So a diaphragm. I take it you have the OC spring removed.
IMO, Unless you've over adjusted the linkage, possible bending fingers, it's probably fine. Just make sure you haven't raised some edges on the tips from the bearing failure and the new bearing contacts the fingers square.

I don't think he's hurt it either. Probably just the TO bearing. I bet it was noisy from the get go.

Interesting. I don't question what you have experienced. It's not the same experience I have had with clutch disc wear. It's possible the wear you experienced is coming from somewhere other than the clutch disc.

...and please understand, I'm not bein smartass in any way shape form or fashion.....just stating what my experience has been. I can remember I was .....probably 19 layin under this truck giving it a service. Greasing, adjusting. Actually there were two of us. It was raining lightly....yeah we were outside. Anyway, Some of the "water" dripping on us didn't look right. I looked at Robert and asked what's up with this rain?" He started laughing his *** off. I said "What?!?!?!" He said you didn't notice what kinda truck this was, did you?" We were workin on a septic tank pump truck. Need I say more? LOL

I will say this about old Gladys...and I'm sure it's a contributing factor. Her linkage is less than stellar. One end of the Z bar had a wallered hole, the other has a half sawed in two pin, so that contributes. Still though, as this clutch wears, the free travel becomes greater. It's always been that way on every old Ford truck I've ever worked on. I've read all stuff that says the opposite, but that's just how these things wear. Something about the z bar and linkage has to be backwards from the norm.

Dave my mistake, its not a diaphragm type

Clutch adjusted properly? What is the air gap between the clutch fingers and the bearing with the pedal is out?
Mike, the bearing was up against the fingers, not a lot of pressure against them but touching
I adjusted it and checked it a few times, its not touching anymore
I started the car and no throw out bearing noise, we'll see what happens when its warmed up and on the road-----------Thanks

That's good. It may have simply been adjusted too tightly.
