On power gear box?
Tried u joint 5/8 36 spline....too small?
11/16. 36 spline too big?
Wtf?

You may have the GM 5/8x36 spline u joint, Chrysler is a different style spline even though it is still 5/8x36.

I only have delt with later truck power boxes, my 66 and everything else I had were manual. Thought they were all the same coupler
