64 Dart

Okay, i went through 3 different motor mounts and all turned out to be a junk, i finally ordered the crazy expansive ones on ebay.
Can’t wait to get them!
Little upgrade…
Got some suspension parts today, still waiting on upper control arms.
Didn’t have time to order rear end, so using the old one 9 inch 27 spline for now, it turned out to be 50” wide, so i got weld stars with 6.5 offset. Will swap the rear end in the middle of the season to 35 spline one.
Started to work on transmission tunnel and it seems to be really easy, not as hard as I expected at first. Half way done

What size back tire is that?! That looks awesome!

Also, do you have a part number on those front wheel studs? I still need to buy some for my 66.

I made a “floating” gas pedal for my ‘64 dart! I just grabbed a pedal off a junk ‘72 dart, cut off the last few inches of pedal rod, with the pedal attached, then cut the stock pedal rod and welded the two together.
Got any pics of this? I'd like to see what you did

Looks great. Our transmission tunnels look the same lol.

Man, you're hauling *** on this build! I'm stealing your idea on the screw-edge for the rear firewall. That should make it mice and solid.

What thickness aluminum did you use on the package tray/rear firewall?

i was trying to find any way to make the firewall and look for youtube videos and didn’t really find anything that could apply to my stock wheel arks, so couple beers made me come up with this plan.

it says .032 aluminum or .024 steel for fire wall in the trunk

i couldn’t find 21 or 20 gauge aluminum at steel suppliers around me, so i used 24ga steel

I wish i knew what i’m doing and had a plan every time i’m starting working on it, now i’m at 70% just thinking and only 30% of working! But im defiantly getting up way too early and after work staying up too late trying to get some progress done on a car and over thinking keeping me up all nights, i want to race it next month!!

Finished transmission tunnel.

Realized my stall didn’t have a ring gear, so engine is out again, taking stall back to the shop, to weld a ring gear on it. Working on fuel lines and brake lines this week.

Any suggestions what else i should work on while the engine is out of the bay?

It's hard to tell, but is the brake line that runs across the firewall hung? That one's kind of a ***** with the engine installed.

don't forget to fully seal the trunk area from the passenger compartment you need to panel the sides between the outer 1/4's/'tubs' etc. if not fire could still get through to the sides (where the rear 'door' cards were) and also up the 'c' pillars into the roof/headliner area, both are in the passenger compartment. aluminum rear 'door' cards/panels would sort the majority but better would be to block it off in the trunk each side.
neil.

You may want to look into Denso alternators. They're small, internally regulated, and charge very well at idle. AndyF makes some slick mounting brackets for them.

Do you have any photos with the weight on the tires back on the ground?
Also, are you running rear sliders, or stock-type shackles?

I love how this car is coming together!
