Looking for any documentation '69 Barracuda Fastback

Hi FurysJr ,

Dan and I were good friends going back a number of years. My son and I road tripped from Texas in 2019 to visit my folks, and my brother, and made a stop to visit your dad and see his barracuda collection.

Dan made us a special set of 69 barracuda books for our 69 coupe formula S tribute restoration. When I heard from Lisa of his passing it felt like a ton of bricks fell on me. I just lost my pops in december, and then your dad. The last time I talked w him before things took a turn for the worst he seemed upbeat. Then I had not heard anything. I reached out to Lisa and got the bad news.

Jarrett I am so sorry for your loss. As Dan's son it's got to be terribly hard. I was just Dan's online mopar penpal, for about 4-5 years and it cut me pretty deep over his loss. The manuals he sent has pix of my son working on the cuda that he pulled from our build thread making his manuals extra special. There was something he sent me written on a piece of paper I have kept in my wallet. Your dad was a special guy, but then again I'm sure you know that. I miss talking w your Dad about all things barracuda, just like I miss talking to my dad about all things mopar and model A Ford.

Dan had ideas on how he wanted the barracuda. I remember a lot of what he talked about as far as colors and options etc. I tried to give him some ideas, and help him out.

He was always having me make him stuff for this build. You will also find boxes of stuff like the seatbelt mounts for modern shoulder belts. Dan was always asking questions and writing this stuff down to archive it. Theres a Dan Kelly wiring harness for the console that's custom. It has additional lighting for the storage area and ashtray. He called me Sensei and I called him grasshopper. So that's the joke in the last pic. It's what I keep in my wallet to remind me of your dad.

I am all the way in Abilene Tx. Send me a PM and maybe we can exchange phone numbers. If I can help you with what your dads vision of the barracuda was supposed to be I would love to. He has quite the collection of NOS and repop parts for it. A lot of the hard work which is finding all that hard to find stuff is done.

Keep in touch
Your dads friend
Matt

Hi Matt, thank you for your reply and I'm very sorry to hear about your father too.

Dad always told me about a friend he would send die cast cars to, I just never knew who it actually was. I remember buying the Coke car that your son is holding in his left hand. Dad would have me keep an eye out for certain cars or I would see a few myself I thought he'd like and get them for him. Most of the ones he asked me about were ones that he wanted to send to you. I'm glad that you and him were friends, you were a huge help in all of his car endeavors and I know that he's very grateful for it. He would be extremely happy that you would still be helping to bring his dream car to life. I guess I'll be taking his role of grasshopper now lol.

I am hoping to get the car towed to my house soon, maybe today or tomorrow. I'm also going to start picking up all the parts later today. Shortly after he passed Lisa got Covid and we weren't able to go over for a while. She's finally in the clear so we can start moving stuff again. He never told me exactly what he wanted it to look like, I just know he wanted it Plum Crazy Purple, my favorite color as well. Being that he already does have a lot of the parts, I would like to get started as soon as I could.

The last major thing that Dad was able to do was be the best man at my wedding in October. After the wedding his health started declining pretty fast. He was doing so well and it seemed like he would still be around for a while. But then the cancer came back with a vengeance. I'm so thankful that he was able to make it and see his last child get married before he passed.

Here is a few good pictures from the wedding in case you haven't seen them.

Talk to you soon,
Jarrett
