IF the process could be maintained safely, it would be a great leap forward, been chased after a long time......
 
Do they use firebrick to contain it?

China has stolen more of our technology and intelligence than most of us realize. Or maybe it was given to them.

Many years ago (before cell phones) we weren’t allowed to take cameras into the specialty steel mill that I worked at. Top secret stuff for years. Then all the sudden groups from other countries would get guided tours right while we were running and had cameras in both hands. Hmmmmm
 
Their rules on intellectual property have given them access to everything that is produced in the country. A "sacrifice" greedy companies made for profit in a giant market.

We taught them how to do it right. We wanted their cheap labor and no rules that cost us money. When the quality was poor we taught them how.

A lot of the military tech was given to our “Allies” then traded to China. As far as IP theft goes though, when you transfer production or but Chinese imports it’s kind of difficult to keep them at arms length of other intellectual property.

Put your tin foil hat on for a second and ask yourself why neither party in Washington is serious about stopping it. This has been going on since the 80s or 90s and it’s gotten worse every single year.

No Tinfoil hat needed. I had in my head that this could only be dealt with by an outsider and we see how that worked out.... Opinions vary and that is mine.

I have no kids and am now heading north of 50. Will I see something become of all of this? Maybe. Not worried about it. But in 100 years it will be in history books and it will be how the USA slit their own throat. As said, my opinion.
Your question at hand though is like I always say. Good Wrestler, Bad Wrestler. It's what works to make those in the pipeline rich. And they are all laughing and counting the money in the Backroom that night. That sums up my answer.....

Before the”gas crunch” Toyota’s and Datsun were cheap junk. Now the big three has handed over the best ideas to Japan and China. Did you ever ask”who did this”?
 
What materials do they use than can stand 158 million degrees?
 
There was a good story on NPR about how MIT is doing it and what materials they used . Liquid gas keeps things at -400 kelvin which allows near zero resistance conductivity .... etc

As for China there biggest threat will come from within . As more and more Chinese migrate to free countries like US and the EU they start getting ussd to the freedoms and tell everyone back home what its like . Economic success will be the downfall of the Communist party. Give it 50 yrs.

Cant see any reason why this thread would be scuttled ?
