I don't think so. Luckily the PO had used some foil tape around the joints of the vent pipe. That stuff smoke and stank to beat the band and that smell is what woke me up. When I got up the pellet stove was off and cool and I didn't know what was happening. Once I figured it out, I found the pellet stove had shut its self off and one portion of the vent pipe had its inner layer melted!

I regularly maintain the stove, cleaning and vacuuming.

Trust me, I wish I knew the answer.
No smoke detectors/CO detectors? Gusts of wind can push smoke & gasses out the draft into the room, but a melted inner-wall sounds like a soot flash-fire in the stove pipe.....
