Boggles my mind that so many people want to ruin their cars by putting some modern POS platform in them.......if that's what your going to do with them please just sell them and let an adult have them so they will stay remotely similiar to what they always have been.

Im just thinking out loud....i already have a 410 hp crate engine duster...im not changing anything there....its more my newest ride that i want to make different, why have 2x cars built the same way , why not have a nice old school car during nice summer days that i can drive all day and have the other monster for special occasions , i want to be honest , put a 440 in my valiant when i have almost a 11 sec duster is not necessary right now

Just sell it then....why turn the other car into something that a person that wears skinny jeans would own?

Yes high gas prices during the last Obiden administration. Lets just keep voting these greedy bandits in so we the people can get poorer and they the so called public servants can become multi millionaires on the taxpayers hard working backs.

Do you even have a clue as to what drive fuel prices ? Can you identify and define the various cabinet posts and who holds them in any of the last 6 administrations ? I doubt it ...
Do you know which president appointed the most millionairs to high level posts ? Does the US control fuel prices around the world ?

You owe no explanation to nobody. It's your car, your money, proceed as you wish :)

Gas. Electric. BS taxes.
I'm thinking of inventing ($$$$$!) my version of a electric bicycle, runs of solar comes with a sorta clear tent ( kinda like the old tractor deal) to keep ya warn and dry. Pedals for those rainy cloudy days. Big light bar that flashes for those that have to venture out on the freeways. One of those big *** 18 wheeler type horns (goes off solar ya know!?). GPS for those that can't ride and read a map at same time??
I need a partner with $$$$.

Electric cars should have solar cells coating the skin of the body for recharging thru out the day .
You're a bit late, Hyundai HEV/EV has solar grid in the panoramic glass roof in Sonata for 2-3yrs now..whole car ain't gonna happen, what do You think that'll cost 1st collision? Can You say doubled insurance?

I have a slant 6 with hydraulic lifters and a 904 laying around....i have a 5.9 magnum with a 46re , i have a 3.9 magnum and i just bought a 350 hp 360 from a d150 with a 904....so i dont know really , its just weird for me to convert a v8 to a s6 set up , i have everything to make the swap though...

I live out in the sticks so plenty of rooms for cars.
I always figure life is best when you can have more than one old Mopar.
Take the car show guy that has that perfect car for shows only, then he gets a driver!!!
Then the racer that needs some street legal and can be just driven.
Or the guy with the big honkin ($$$$$$) engine that sucks down gas by the 5 gal bucket per punch of throttle. He then also needs a good ole stock 318 or slant for a cheap driver.
ETC!!:poke:

I have a slant 6 with hydraulic lifters and a 904 laying around....i have a 5.9 magnum with a 46re , i have a 3.9 magnum and i just bought a 350 hp 360 from a d150 with a 904....so i dont know really , its just weird for me to convert a v8 to a s6 set up , i have everything to make the swap though...
It would be more work, but I think the 3.9 magnum would be interesting. I think at the end of the day, the slant could net you 28-30 mpg with the 1 bbl tuned to perfection. This may sound unbelievable, but I got 24 mpg with a slant six 4 speed in a D150 long bed.

The Mazda 929 used solar panels to run ventilation fans while parked back in 1991. I was not thinking they would fully charge the batteries but could help extend mileage some .
Good point about costs of repair though .
They say the new EVs have up to 400 range . Not sure how acurate that is but its going in the right direction .

Your best bet would be to use a 318, fuel injection, aod or 5 spd, and skinny tires.

always heard that a 3.9 vs will take much gas or the same fuel consumption than a 5.2 magnum..., would like a s6 too but i love the good old v8 rumble even a 273 2bbl or 318 2bL can sound nice ahahahah , i love the 3.9 really but how hard will it be to fit there , thats the question

There was a member here a few years back that did the 3.9 into an early A wagon...
Ah, here's a reference:
Here is my 1966 Dart 3.9 Magnum power

He hasn't been on the site for a couple years now.

I think it's been done already. If you want the V8 rumble, then /6 or V6 idea is gone. I've owned both 5.2 magnums and 3.9 magnums, and i can tell ya just cruis'n the 3.9 is much better on gas.

The biggest contributor to poor fuel mileage is our right foot.
You could get yourself a slant six, add EFI and an O/D four speed.

A slant 6 would at least make a little sense.......putting a 2.5 or a 3.6 in a 60' or early 70's Mopar is total stupidity
I cannot lie....since I went to the slant 6, I am having the most fun with any vehicle I've ever had. It's just a blast.

What would I do?
5.2 Magnum with stock EFI and stock Magnum exhaust manifolds, dual exhaust. 32RH/999 transmission- lockup convertor, but no overdrive- so no crossmember/floorpan mods. Direct bolt in to replace the 904. Deeper first gear, and lockup gives a bit more efficiency on the highway. 3.23/2.94 gears in the rear. Maybe a small cam, but I'd start out stock and get the bugs ironed out first.
5.2 gets you a nice street driver and EFI keeps the mileage and driveability where you need it. Plus parts are available everywhere.

This seems like a really good plan to me. I might do an A833OD as it is still a bolt in, but gives you an OD gear. Pair that with a 3.21/3.23 gear and it would probably be good fun and still return decent mileage.

I've done the Turbo FWD thing and enjoyed it. Decent mileage and fun to drive. Started on a /6 turbo with EFI and OD project, but the car was too rusty. In the end, I can't get away from the sound of a V8. For me, an early car needs that sound.

I'd bet any year 5.7 left stock and swapped in the same car would return better mileage (and far more fun). But that it a bunch more money to gain single digit improvements on the MPG.

When I got my Dart I was tempted to build a 318 or 360 but the Slant looked so cool in my car. I rebuilt it, ported/shaved the head, added a modern cam and a Weber 2 barrel. Won't win any races but surprisingly fun to drive and gets amazing gas mileage. Bonus is I always get a cluster of old timers looking under the hood at car shows. :)

Years ago a guy did a 5.9 swap into a Duster using the OEM EFI and claimed to get 25 mpg. I know it was a 4 speed because the thread was about turning the 143T flywheel down to use a 130T ring, but I don't remember if it was an A833OD or not.

Either way, if true, even a stock 5.9 might not be a bad option if that's what you have.
