Just happy to be alive and see another Super Bowl.
Liked Snoop since I saw him open for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He has class. But that's my opinion.

My wife asked me why they grab their peckers. I told her because it feels good.

Blondie started Rap.
LOL.. not even close LOL.. well I do like Blondie but I'm pretty sure the sugarhill gang had something to do with it... I think it was called rapper's delight... One thing for sure not only was it funny but you could understand what they were saying.. kind of why I always liked Young MC...
Again like summer saying I'm not a rap or hip hop fan but I do appreciate what other people are doing... And like almost everybody is saying when it doesn't sound good to their ear I could be for a different generation... Only in maturity and ignorance puts down what they don't understand...

The long version was 17 minutes and I could make my commute in one song. I used to remember all the words and could "sing along" . Blondie was cool as well. Old school rap was good enough to listen to. Gangsta stuff is just awful. I am 61

Is Blondie says nobody walks in la! I found that out when I visited my dad and I got an eerie feeling when I was walking around his neighborhood when I noticed absolutely nobody was around...
I think I should leave this right here...

Ya a technicality, Sugarhill Gang's 1979 single hit #36 on the Top 100 Billboard charts in January of 1980. Blondie's Rapture was on her Autoamerica album which was released in 1980 as well and hit #1 on the charts after the single "Rapture" was released on Jan. 12, 1981.

I liked it and I’m 53. Not usually a halftime show kinda person, but watched this one and glad I did.

Run-D.M.C rapped happy.

I think the more well-adjusted of us will agree that there probably isn't too many huge rap fans or hip hop fans and probably not what the most of us listen to but at least have appreciation of people having a good time and putting on a good show...
When I was just out of high school my girlfriend worked at the record store and we got free concert tickets all the time. And we ended up going to a Luther vandross concert which was way out of our league... I mean we wanted to see Def Leppard and AC/DC and that kind of stuff. Up until that night I thought Ozzy was the best singer in the world LOL...
Well I don't know one of his songs and can't remember any of them that I heard I know that was truly good singing even at that young age and I knew I was seeing something special...

I turned down the sound but did peek in at the video. What I did like was the innovation of the set that was used. Say what you will about the music, not my style, but I appreciate the backdrop and the visual aspect. Not a fan of booty clothes, and I was wondering how the hardcore rappers of the world think about how mainstream Snoop has become? Hosting the puppy bowl with Martha is about as mainstream and anti gangsta as you can get.

I recognized the first Snoop song in what I assume was a medley, but that's it.

I did notice that they lined up '62, '63, and '64 impalas in chronological order.
I found that a nice touch. Those cars in convertible form (or any, really) ain't cheap.

If I were on the other side of the stadium, I'd be a little ticked that 80% of the show was "indoors" on the other side.

I also liked the "looking out through the diner" window display.

It's good, but it doesnt "rule"...and in fact was the root hook of rap...gangsta rap.
How anybody can connect the sounds that came out of Mo Town, the black artists of the fifties sixties through the seventies with the derogatory lyrics of some rap music is beyond me
Black Americans gave us some truly great music
But yes I get it

They are saying it was the best halftime show ever . I guess i will go crawl back in my hole .

Comparing Motown to rap is like apples to bowling balls. I'm sure music can't be your thing. Motown was polished, measured rhythm and blues, some of the best music of the 60's. They had great producers, songwriting teams, and performers. Smokey, Marvin, Aretha, and so many others through the 60/70's. They were the other side of great music equal to rock and roll in popularity. Rap, I don't get, but I'm not suppose to I would guess. I also don't get rat rods, or low riders either, but it's their thing, as muscle era is mine. All good. I haven't seen a halftime show in a long time, so I can't judge what was on. I just know, hearing who is performing, it's not for me.

This is why I unsubscribed from politics.
So why do you keep hitting the x button?
It's called sampling, bozo. The great songs... all those contributions made... all musically raped by their offspring and exploited by a lot of producers and record exec's of all races 'if that matters'. If you knew many of the back stories to those artists.. you'd know they all weren't angels either. Music has been around much longer than America and for that matter black America. How lame are you to argue your opinion of what music is better than the rest. Paints you very accurately. Imo.

You're missing the point... which was all those songs were later sampled, allowed to be, and it became the foundation of rap .period. no one said one was better than the other or even tried to compare the quality 'which is truly up to the ear of the listener'.

I've played live music as a drummer 'all genres' for 30 years. I know many people, that's all I'll say. Im not the end all.. but I'm well seasoned... so don't argue the inarguable with me.

I bet Steve welder has a long winded reply he's whipping up... too bad, I put him on ignore and I wont see it.

Hitting the red X is because I don't agree with you, you'll go way farther in life when you learn to deal with difference of opinions rather than act out like a jerk and calling names
Now go on to work

This thread won't turn into a big ol' pissing match. Understood everyone? Post your opinions and leave it at that. Like they say, Opinions are like assholes!

Where did they dig up Mary J Blige? And why? All she did was sing minor over a canned soundtrack. Did anyone catch the thug dancer with a shoulder holster? Classy. Tam's is a local restaurant chain, I go to #44 in Long Beach...awesome chili fries.
