halftime show

Who was that singer at the end with the large, muscular thighs and the lace boots? I wish I legs that strong lookin'.
Mary J Blige....big in like 1994? Friends wife listened to her all the time. Beyonce, J Lo, Destiny's child, Mary J, TLC...and 3 other all sound the same. Not unlike the manufactured girly groups in the 60s but more 'produced'.

When I got divorced around 2000 I started hanging out with a crowd a little younger than me. (Yes they were legal) At the local bar they had one of those Jukeboxes with 1000’s of songs on them. Don’t ask me why but I really got into some of the songs by M&M (I know). To this day I still listen to some of his songs and his halftime song brought back lots of really good memories. Really good.

Honestly I didn’t know it was him till the song started. I don’t buy music, watch music videos, or go see bands. Same with movie stars other than James Bond movies. Usually when someone from a group, tv show, or movies dies and there’s a post with his or her name I have to Google it to know who it is.probably the last musician that I watched was Michael Jackson. And that was only because of some of his dance moves. 98% of the time it turns me off seeing them.

Californians can't help but to embarrass themselves.....LOL

I watched the halftime show only on YouTube and didn't watch the game at all.

I thought the halftime show wasn't bad nor super good.

The songs took me back to my junior high days, so that was a blast from the past.

I have always liked Eminem, I remember his really early stuff and I remember my parents banning him from the house. Just as most kids, I still listened on the sneaks with my friends. I could never relate to his lyrics but it was interesting to listen because it was the closest a rich girl would ever get to the ghetto.

Despite what a few salty old guys in this thread say, the music from that halftime show is part of history. Good, bad or indifferent, it was around in some our childhoods and no amount of hate is going to change that. I'm not a gangsta rapper but I do remember all those songs from the simpler times of my life.

There was a serious weed cloud down on the field, was worried I would pop on a urinalysis from just being there:rofl:

if it’s legal before I die I might take a hit or two and see if I can still dance. I would probably look like a weeble wobble with two bad knees.

Prince was an outstanding guitar player, but his bullshit turned off many people. Motown was entertainment for all. With some exceptions my musical tastes ended about mid/late 70's. I love and make music, but man I do not get what passes for music sometimes. But then my father looked at his son as if I was crazy as I played the Beatles. Each to their own, that's cool with me.
I saw Prince in about 1982. We boo'd him off stage. He was in his weird phase of just screaming stuff. That scene in Purple Rain when the club promoter says. "Your music only makes sense to yourself?" Some truth in those days. Then he and the band released Purple Rain. Which stands as an anthem type song to that 80s generation. Like Free Bird does to the 70s southern rock fans. Not many songs reach those pinnacle.

My boy started watching the older super bowl shows. I told him to watch The Who and said probably half the stadium were younger than them and the other half knew their songs. That was a weird choice. Then he told me one half time show was a magician? Don't remember that one. Disney had something to do with it he said.... i liked 2014: Bruno Mars and Red Hot Chili Peppers.....even though the music track was prerecorded (NFL policy) it was recorded by them prior to the show in the same manner as a live show. I'm still waiting for Weird Al.....

I appreciate all forms of music to be honest. I thought 75% of the halftime show was great.

Dr Dre and the other surviving members of NWA and Eminem would have been a better show.
Snoop never was much. imo
Good rap died with Biggie and Tupac.

I just wish they'd pick one or maybe two acts and play a couple full songs instead of 20 sec portions of ten different songs.

Prince like Van Halen, my generation (old) may not get into their music, but their talent is unmistakable. I seen Skynyrd do free bird done back in the day, but never got to see Allman Bros. They were suppose to play here about 6/7 yrs. ago and they had to cancel a couple nights before due to Gregg's illness. Even as old graybeards I would have loved to see them.

I saw Allman brothers a few times. But never before they lost Duane. But Betts was great. I saw Greg at a small venue around early/mid 90s. He was sucking lemons and sounded terrible. I saw him again 10 years later. GREAT! Don't know what happened in them years. But 2 thumbs up
