A question for the snowbirds

-
I’ve often wondered the same about Zonies in CA, any age, any time of year, like rolling roadblocks

We're old, can't see as well as we used to, our reaction time on the tree ain't as good as it used to be. Some of us don't know when to hit the pedal before the light turns green. Lol. I'm enjoying winter in the Florida panhandle and I do feel bad sometimes for the locals, having to put up with us. I try to stay in the right hand lane when I'm looking for a a restaurant or something that's new to do. I'm not in a hurry to do anything anymore and I love it and I worked hard to get here. I hope you all get a chance to enjoy the good life when you retire.
Won't happen for me, but I grew up in the Panhandle, Loved It and wanna move back. Tampa sucks...

In California I definitely try to go with the flow of traffic. If the flow happens to be 90mph, looks like I’m doing 90! Haha. But I will say some of the interchanges can be confusing if you’re trying to navigate by yourself. Definitely takes some pre planning.

I know a lot of drivers can be hot-headed and rude, but I look at it this way: if someone is driving safely, but slowly, there's nothing to be upset about at all.[/QUOTE]
Yessir! But people impeding traffic, Brake- tapping, glued to a phone, and listening to Google with out ever reviewing the map, and jumping across 4 lanes cause the Lil computer said to at the last second Really Chaps My ***!

You need to help your fellow folks out there! I live off I8, their main migrant path, and the amount of people who hang in the fast lane doing 65 is astounding. Thought maybe there was something wrong with the right hand lanes in Arizona and that’s why they never use, but my cousin in Phoenix was unaware of any issue:p

They do that **** here! Road-Clogs, I call 'em! They'll drive slow on the fast lane, neck and neck w/ a semi, but if you ever try to get around, the try an shut the door on ya!

Haha, it must be a Tucson thing, because they do that ALL the time here. Just camp out in the passing lane. Drives me batty.

I live in Southern Arizona, and we see many seasonal visitors during the cooler months from colder climates, AKA "snowbirds." We welcome them. They are wonderful people and an important part of our economy.

I've never been able to ask this question personally, so I'll post it here. In Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, is it customary to drive 10-15 miles per hour below the speed limit? Or do you do it here simply because you're unfamiliar with the landscape?

Serious question.
I don't know.
but the question concerns me. Are you the guy riding my *** on the freeway? If so, I'm about to brake check you.

They're on vacation. Why be in a hurry!

Looking around enjoying the scenery, beats looking at sub zero snow with your parka on and heater on high.

Just getting out of that nasty cold climate, it's nice when you are comfortable to take the time to enjoy life, no hurry.

Everyone else is running their asses off trying to make a buck, and working to pay off that new 60,000 dollar pickup they just had to have.

Life is good in the snowbird lane.

When i first moved to FL, I developed an argument ender for all those that accused us "Northerners" of being the source of bad driving in FL.

Someone who has driven on snow would never pull out in front of someone going 60.

...they would both die.

Hey YY1 your inbox is full. Was going to PM you to see what area of Florida you live in?

I am over on the East coast for the Winter, you know doing the snowbird thing. Lol . . .

Can maybe meet up with you at the Mopar Swap/Show this coming weekend In Melbourne.

I will be wearing the Gray Mopar T-Shirt.

You obviously haven't driven in Wis, IL, or Mich.
If you want an eye opener, Drive north out Indianapolis on I-69. But you might want to wear a mouth guard, so that your teeth won't get jarred loose. It is the roughest stretch of road I have ever driven on. We have lost several hubcaps off of our RV on that road.

Ha! I was talk'n "how fast they/we drive" in the states... but... Wis has good roads, mich ... ehhh... IL - you can loose a small car in pot hole

For some reason it seems about half the drivers in northern CO go 10 below or more. Drives me crazy when I'm trying to get somewhere in a hurry. We seem to have a lot more left-lane hogs on I-25 since all the transplants started moving in but they're usually just oblivious to what's going on. I'll try to be patient and 'mildly tailgate' them for a bit, sometimes they get the idea and move over but if not I pass them on the right WHICH I HATE DOING. I always stare at them as I pass and most of the time they have a vacant braindead look on their faces and don't even notice me.

Talking about getting old... I'm only 30 but I'm a spitting image of my grandpa and he drove like a maniac all the time, actually got worse as he got older. I don't see myself slowing down as I age either I just can't stand not getting where I'm going as fast as legally possible unless I'm in a scenic area. Ironically my parents hate the way I drive yet my mom has been in several crashes that were her fault and I've never caused one in 15 years of driving. Hmmmmmm

That's one of the nice things about winters in Michigan...you can drive faster because the snow fills in the potholes

Negative. I’m neither a tailgater nor an aggressive driver, I just simply drive around cars going slower than I wish to drive.

I do see other people tailgating and it bugs the hell outta me, because A) it’s dangerous and B) it’s an immature way to try to get someone to do what you want them to do.

But I agree, it was funny lol.
