Hi I did what you want to do last spring. I followed this YouTube video but I didn’t remove the steering wheel from the shaft. Taping the wheel to the column so it doesn’t spin thing the wheel face down on the floor with cardboard and a cloth over it I didn’t get scratches. You’re gonna have to remove the pin on the column to get that seal in/out and it’s easier to put the cover on and get those tangs locked better out of the car than in it. There’s also a locking bar thing that slides in the pin when you put it back on the box that helps keep the seal in place, I haven’t looked yet but I’ve seen some people on here do it.
